A rare bit of sun during a short break down in the West Country catches 64xx 0-6-0 Pannier Tank no. 6412 waiting time at Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway, with the 2.35pm to Totnes Riverside. An out-of-season weekend timetable, and this was the only engine in steam that day.
The locomotive was built in 1931 by the GWR from a design by engineer C.B.Collett. Fitted for light traffic push-pull working it could be seen operating around the network of lines in the Gloucestershire area in the early 1960s, before the Beeching cuts and rush to diesel traction rendered it redundant. Happily it’s one of the few that avoided the cutter’s torch, and lived to fight another day.

1638, the only survivor of the class, was built at Swindon Works in 1951 and is one of the relatively few of our preserved steam locos which did not pass through Woodham’s scrapyard at Barry in south Wales. 1638 was purchased direct from British Railways after being withdrawn from service 1966/7 and its first home in preservation was at Buckfastleigh on what was then called the Dart Valley Railway. It remained on the DVR until 1992 when it was sold to the Kent & East Sussex Railway and is still based there.

Designed by Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina with interiors by Walter de Silva of Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, along with a Spider version. The exterior design was finished in July 1988. Production began in late 1993 with four cars, all 3.0 V6 Spiders, assembled at the Alfa Romeo Arese Plant in Milan.
In 1997 a new engine, a 24-valve 3.0 litre V6, was available for the GTV along with bigger, 305 mm (12.0 in) brakes and red four-pot calipers from Brembo. The console knobs were changed from round central to rectangle ones and to a three-spoke steering wheel. Some versions were upgraded with different front bumper mesh to bring the wind noise down to 74 dBA.
In May 1998 the cars were revamped for the first time (Phase 2), mainly the interior was changed with new centre console, painted letters on skirt seals, changed controls and switches arrangement and different instrument cluster. On the exterior main changes included chrome frame around the grille and color-coded side skirts and bumpers.
With a further facelift in 2003 for the final full model year, also designed in Pininfarina but not by Enrico Fumia. Main changes are focused on the front with new 147-style grille and different front bumpers with offset numberplate holder

My attempt at Blackburn Bus Company 227 YJ16 DVR.
Late July 2016 saw the introduction of 18 new Optare Versas on Routes 6&7. The Versas largely replace Volvo B10BLE's which will no doubt end up elsewhere. This is also the second route to have the new diagonal livery of two colours applied, with Red Express X41 being the first, which I have also done a model of.
This model is a slightly older version of the versas's that are in operation in Blackburn, but they are more or less similar.
This is the easiest model I've ever taken apart, with only one screw to take out underneath and the rest follows. This allowed the interior to be repainted as well. The blue colours mix well together and with the graphics, this model has turned out really nice, rather proud of it myself!
(If anybody needs any help with modelling just message me).
