There are two problems here: the XM song information is not being displayed in the blue box (it didn't appear until I changed channels), and the top bar showing old program data (at 6:43 A.M., the listing for 11:00 P.M.-to-3:00 A.M. is being shown). I just want to listen to some indie rock with my breakfast!
Fast Forward on the new Comcast TiVo DVR IS NOT the same as on the standalone TiVo. It takes (4) clicks to fast forward in stead of (3), plus that sweet TiVo buffer doesn't work as well. When you first see the recorded program after fast forwarding through a commercial, and hit the Fast Forward key once more to stop, it seems to stops at that point and you have to rewind to get to the start of the program. Maybe it's because the Fast Forward is a little faster than normal, but it's not a seamless change.

Almost exactly 12 months after the end of steam on BR I was on a family holiday in Paignton, and took a trip to the Dart Valley Railway. This is 0-6-0PT 6435 at Riverford Bridge, Staverton, on the 4.48pm Totnes-Buckfastleigh.
So we upgraded to a comcast DVR. I really wonder about the people who programmed this machine. Not only have the features that would be useful to me but perturb the hell out of the big media companies been not implemented, but it barely works. I had to fight with it to get it to do what I wanted.... mostly in terms of me hitting the "Record this series" button and nothing happening, for no adequately explainable reason. Oh yeah, and they don't have a proper undo and the "Back out of this display without changing everything" doesn't work as one would expect it to.
Supposedly, either there will be a hardware box option that will be a TiVo.... or alternatively, the box will magically become a TiVo with a software download....
The hardware seems to be in working order. 60 hours of disk, all of the ports that are present in the hardware seem to be there, etc. It has two tuners, which is rather useful. It even can output HDTV signals if I ever get around to going WIDESCREEN. :P
Oh, and check out the notes for more enlightened commentary.
I look at these devices and say, "You stupid people. Why can't this be the center of my digital lifestyle? Oh yeah, because you are worried that all I'll do is pirate stuff."
