Another car load of crap. Where does it all come from. There was a queue to get in here today. Where does it all go? Do we think about all this crap we buy in the first place?. Throw-away society!

They are self-powered - mining the methane gas from the landfill. They sell millions back to PG&E. They have the only resale store in the state - salvaging 50% of what is dumped (!) They recycle all green waste (into mulch) all wood (into chips) all concrete (into gravel). They were the first dump to accept household hazardous waste.

At the landfill for Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Nearly 400 families spend their days digging through the trash looking for food and recyclable materials that they can sell for just pennies.

A trip to the dump today did not exactly lighten my mood but we did clear a lot of stuff out of the garage, even if it was mainly cardboard. Still the garage looks empty now, no doubt the mice will make it a mess again shortly.

This is the yard waste pile at the landfill. Fairly impressive.

why do people just dump their rubbish anywhere

While at the Parklands for work I saw this tanker dumping recycled water into the drains. The sign on the left explains that this water flows into the Parkland storage tanks and is used for irrigation.

It was so awesome to see tires collecting at the city dump!

We went to the dump near Agnew Lake in Northern Ontario hoping to catch a glimpse of a black bear. Well, we weren't disapointed. This guy was huge and not at all intimidated by humans.

It's obvious that this spot has been forgotten by all except those who dump there. Bandit's scouting services brought it back from the shadows.

He's a very jolly baby. And he LOVES this truck, even if he only uses it as a chair.

Kind of sad. That was my bed almost all the time I was in Corvallis. More of my identity being chipped away.

 

And the little center in PDX where you take stuff was a sad site, all that refuse, and throwing my futon on top! Like discarding your dead dog by tossing it into a field.
