Haad Khom Beach in the north of that beautiful island.

So blessed to live just minutes from the scenic majesty of the mountains. A key to my well-being is escaping there often.

Our perspective not only determines what we see but how we feel. Elevating our perspective can also elevate our feelings.

When the weather is too stormy to get out, I really enjoy going through the archives and creating new edits of shots from previous years. I enjoy bringing out different details in shots I’d almost forgotten about.

In the Heart of the Swabian Jura, where the ancient Albtrauf ridge gently cradles the landscape, the setting sun transforms the sky into a canvas of fiery hues. As the day bids its farewell, the rolling hills are bathed in a warm, golden light, revealing the intricate tapestry of forests and meadows below. This serene moment, captured from above, showcases nature's artistry at its finest—a perfect blend of tranquility and grandeur. Whether you're a lover of landscapes or just someone who appreciates a good sunset, this is a scene that invites you to pause, breathe, and simply marvel at the beauty of the world around us.

Sunrise Peak, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington, USA. There was once a fire lookout here, constructed in the 1930s and destroyed in the 1960s. All that remains is a guard rail and some rebar. Very beautiful here, I didn't want to leave.

It's Sunrise and the first rays of the Sun appear above the Fog. I am alone above everything and see into the distance.

For that moment it feels like my own Heaven, free from everything. Is it real or just a beautiful Dream ? I wish this feeling never ends.

High Rock fire lookout, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington USA. What a job it must have been, watching for forest fires all summer with a view like that.

The Icy cold landscape welcomes the first light of dawn to the mountain tops.

The creeks and trees have all gone to bed for the winter nestled under a blanket of snow. They’ll wait patiently for the warm light of spring to reach them once again.

Fond memories of this trip. High winds smashed our tents flat, breaking a bunch of poles. But after the storms moved off, the light was so beautiful.

This wasn't even planned. I took the back way home from my dad's house, managed to get up out of the fog, and the shot presented itself.

One of my favorite scenes to photograph is the cliffs along the Colorado River just west of Moab, Utah. When the light is right on the red rock and the river is calm enough for reflections, it’s such a great little spot.

The workweek is almost in the rear view. I hope you’re on the road headed to a beautiful weekend! Have a great one!

It’s been a while but I stand by my statement that the Great Salt Lake is the world’s biggest reflecting pond. A still evening out there provides phenomenal views.

In 1877, my ancestor, Jens Hansen, was asked by local leaders to use his oxen to break the ground beginning construction on the Manti Temple in Sanpete County, Utah. This temple has always had a special place in my family’s history. In fact, my parents were married there 48 years ago today.

Layers! Ogres have them. Deserts have them. In this case the harder stony layer on top protected the sandier striped layers beneath until the sand had eroded so much, the harder layer of rock began to break down and roll to the bottom of the striped hills.

Looking at archive shots to consider a shoot location for this weekend. Depending on conditions, I may give this one a shot.
