Sometimes I even go out at sunset...

Last week a nice thunderstorm came over my hometown (well, hometown, a few houses and and a lot of greenhouses). After the rain I sent my drone up to take some pictures, in the back you can see the beach of the North Sea and at the left the Port of Rotterdam. Talking about Rotterdam, did you know I support Feyenoord and they became champion of the Netherlands last week ;).

Late day sun and long shadows fall on the road to the Salt Flats. With all of the water, the road has become a causeway out into the middle of an impromptu lake.

Good morning! Each new day is a chance at a fresh start. I hope your chance at today is amazing!

In Utah, pick any direction and drive. You’ll run into mountains, lakes, red rock, desert and endless skies. It’s always an adventure!

We had a nice day last Sunday and went and flew the drone. Hardly any wind for once. Here's looking east. Our harbor and looking out towards Lake Charlevoix in the distance. Hope you don't mind two shots today.

What a beautiful time of year! The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular, and in between, the northern lights dance overhead.

This photo was taken over the east side of our property at dawns early light. The temperature was 16 degrees Fahrenheit, and the forest was totally silent. Even the few remaining birds, had yet to leave their nests and arrive at our feeders. What a great way to start the day.

It’s Tuesday! What direction are you headed? Decisions, decisions.

To do lists grow very long this time of year. Sometimes I feel like I’m just running around checking all the boxes of the season. I have to remind myself to step back, take a breath and enjoy the beauty of the world around me. Ah, that feels better!

I’ve got some exciting Southern Utah trips planned over the next month. I’m really excited to get back there. I hope the place doesn’t wash away before I arrive. Be safe near flowing water, everyone! Water is not something we Utahns are used to.

I was up on a hillside above the fog, and was treated to an awesome sunset.

Falling on into Friday kind of like this. Here’s one last shot of these falls to cap off the series. I hope you’ve enjoyed. Have a terrific weekend!

Nach einer relativ warmen Nacht (etwa 4°C) im Schlafsack, hab ich mich am frühen morgen nochmals in die Lüfte erhoben und habe dieses Foto vom Eibsee gemacht.

An Austin Texas sunrise.

Everyone loves long exposure shots of waterfalls that make the flowing water look smooth and beautiful. Those shots are much harder from the air because you don’t have the stability of a tripod. Leave the shutter open too long and everything is blurry instead of just the water. But I gave it a try with an ND filter and some blue hour light. I’m pretty happy with the result.

Sokol Grad (Falcon-Town is the literal translation!) is a castle perched on a rock in the mountains above the Konavle plain.

I sent my drone up over the Tok River a couple of days ago, and when I brought the images up on my monitor - I discovered a nice set of tracks meandering along the shoreline. I have witnessed this type of behavior by bears before, and suspect that a bear was out looking for a meal, or maybe just a drink of water. It is that time of year up here, when the bears are looking to fatten up on fish - after which they will be scoffing down every wild berry they can find - before heading off to their dens for the winter.

A wider view of the road to the Bonneville Speedway area. Normally, you could drive down onto the salt at the end of the road and race around on the flats. But right now you’d need a boat instead.

We took the drone and went flying here and there around today. Here's looking at Boyne Mountain the ski area near Boyne Falls, MI.

The beauties of the world around us give me motivation to keep working hard and moving forward. Wishing you a great week! Hope you take a minute to stop and watch an inspiring sunset!

People contemplating a move to rural Alaska, often ask us about how we get our water. Digging a well is an expensive and iffy way to go. You may have to go down 400 feet only to find you have sulfur water. You can opt to cut a hole in the ice of the closest lake or stream - but do you really want to do that at thirty or forty below zero? We chose a more convenient way - and that was to have the water come to us. There is a pure underground water source in Glennallen, upon which a business was built many years ago. It services the needs of all who live in town, and those far out of town. (Glennallen does not have what folks call "city water".)

A few minutes ago, Doc ran outside with his brand new drone - and captured our water delivery. We have a thousand gallon tank in the heated and insulated building where you see the hose attached. We have the purest water available anywhere, with no additives. And that's how we do it up here folks.
