Sokol Grad (Falcon-Town is the literal translation!) is a castle perched on a rock in the mountains above the Konavle plain.
Yesterday, we put one of our DJI Drones up over our cabin, to capture the beautiful Chugach Mountain Range to our south. We are so lucky to live in the Alaskan wilderness, and away from the hubbub that plaques the world today.
In this photo you can see all of the still frozen ponds and lakes in the distance - and the Tazlina River runs just in front of the mountain range. There is still a lot of snow to melt - but it's going off daily. This Saturday there is a call in Glennallen for volunteers to fill sandbags in case there is flooding like we have had over the past two years. (Fingers crossed that we don't.)

Warm colors in the sky above the land of the red rocks. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to live in that little neighborhood just beneath the red cliffs. I don’t think I’d ever get tired of the view.
With the forecast looking pretty good we opted for a return to Wildboarclough this morning.
It was right on the cusp of being too windy for the drone and certainly felt fresher than the previous two days.
An enjoyable few hours that changed by the minute as heavy cloud blew through from the West and brought the sun out just in time before the light became too harsh.
A sunset at Riffe Lake located in Lewis County, Washington. The wildfire burning in the Goat Rocks Wilderness to the east of the lake produced the smoke responsible for the enhanced color.
Remembering the days when my friend, Scott, and I used to take trips to the Great Salt Lake for a photo shoot and I would end up using him and his tripod in my compositions. He doesn’t go out there as much anymore and it’s been tough to find others willing to tromp hundreds of yards through the water for shots like this.

I noticed that the seals took over the swing sets at the nearby school yard since they lost their spot at the beach.
Autumn color in the forest that was destroyed in the 1980 eruption at Mt. St. Helens. It's interesting to see just how well the forest recovers from a natural disaster like this. Here, there's a lot going on, including a few trees that have reached cone bearing age.
Got this one on Huffaker Mountain, south of Randle, Washington. The equipment was a DJI Mini2, and the photo itself was taken from several hundred feet away. I took great care to avoid disturbing them (there were two) and they continued about their business, grazing and sunning themselves.
Quaking aspen like to grow at a little higher altitude than other trees, but it’s worth the climb to find them because of their golden leaves in autumn.
