Car Trials seem to be a very English thing, however Banks Peninsula Branch of the NZ Vintage Car Club have been running the Balcairn Trial in Canterbury for around 30 years. The event was supported by 25 drivers, a good number of spectators, a well organised team running the event, and also, to everyones relief, a fine day, cloudy but no rain.
Ground conditions were definitely damp rewarding careful driving and throttle control. When things didn't go to plan the Canterbury Landrover Owners Club were on hand to tow you out of the section. Austin and Morris were the most popular choice by competitors plus a Ford Prefect and large Pontiac chassis that was definitely a handful across the 6 sections.
A great day out with some great driving skills on display. Enjoy the photos.
