It rained all week. Just as I had given up hope, this gent pulled into the restaurant lot with a smile.

I need to make time for more adventures like this in 2016.

Great night, lot of fun with the guys!

LMS Duchess of Sutherland 4-6-2 arriving at Ramsbottom from Rawtenstall, next stop Bury & Heywood. Not the typical footplate crew these days,......but becoming more attractive, a future trend?!.

Narrow twisty country lanes - wet and muddy - can make for exciting driving in a rear wheel drive sports car - providing you don't meet a tractor coming the other way.

I was one happy driver, in southern-Utah, as the weather and scenery was terrific! Also, John's great truck was a real pleasure to drive and we found some nice rocks in that area. (this is the only Avalanche we experienced on our 2,000+ mile trip - John had already traveled about 5,000 miles with his daughter, Karen, before we joined up in Oregon!)

Spotted in the general parking lot of the condominium block we were staying in, during our recent visit to Palm Springs, California. Despite being a sought-after classic muscle car from the 1960's it appears to be a 'daily driver' i.e. "A personally owned automobile driven on a frequent basis for standard and mundane tasks" [Wictionary] .

The Pontiac GTO is a front-engine rear-drive 2-door mid-size car beginning with the 1964 model year, arguably the trend-setting "muscle cars" so popular in North America in the '60's and 70's. The concept was to fit a regular production car (Pontiac Tempest/LeMans) with a bigger engine (389 ci) offering improved handling and performance, although braking was dubious.

Each model year typically had improvements, and this one seems to be a 1965 model.

Coincidence?

Taken in Elsecar, Yorkshire. My hubby had a steam engine 'footplate' driving experience and this was his instructor. Monochrome and a little extra grain to achieve a vintage feel.

While I have zero interest in football, Mike loves the sport. Naturally, he’s a Packers fan and was excited to see this statue of Donald Driver.

50011 "Centurion" waits amongst the crowds at Carlisle on 31st October 1981 after arriving with Severnside Railtours "The Citadel Express" The train ran as 1Z38 the 04:00 Plymouth to Carlisle and return via Gloucester, BNS, Doncaster, Normanton & Skipton on the outward leg and Preston, BNS and Gloucester on the return.

A lasting memory is the run through Preston on the return with the driver giving it full bore through the canopied station, the place must have shook. The punters on the train were so impressed they had a collection for him which he was given at Birmingham New Street.

Unfortunately the former D411 was the first to be withdrawn which occurred on 24th February 1987, less than 19 years after in was new to Crewe depot on 19th March 1968. Upon withdrawal it was moved to Crewe Works and used as a power unit test bed until 1992 from where it was scrapped in September 1992.
