We took an afternoon bike ride around the ranch on Saturday. On the far east side of the ranch, we came across a meadow full of horses. Everyone was grazing except this guy, who was getting a drink of water in the lake.

Just prepping for a photography talk I'm doing on Thursday and as per normal I get carried away processing old images! This one is taken late at night in Etosha national park Namibia. Obviously the light wasn't so good! Taken at iso 3200 f2.8 and a 1/15 of a second. Amazed anything came out at all :)
I so want to go back to Namibia!

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet drinks from a sapsucker's drillings. We've watched both the Rubies and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Yellow-rumped Warblers and downys feed here. A good example of 'commensalism'. A symbiotic relationship where one species benefits from another without providing anything back nor harming the other species. Sometimes the sapsucker will chase away the birds feeding from his drillings.
Our beautiful world, pass it on.

This is the "ranch dog" at Sunglow Ranch in the Chiricahua Mountains. She is an Akbash, a Turkish herding breed. Here she is taking an early morning drink in the ranch pond.
The Black Vultures were having out at the parking lot of Conowingo Dam. It was interesting to watch them drinking the dewdrops off the grass.
