I'm counting my sheep and each one that passes is another dream to ashes
and they all fall down.
And as I lay me down tonight,
I close my eyes, what a beautiful sight
Sleeping to dream about you
And I'm so tired of having to live without you
But I don't mind.
Dream is a sculpture in St Helens, Merseyside, England.
Dream was designed by the Spanish artist and sculptor Jaume Plensa as part of The Big Art Project in 2009. It is sited on an old slag heap of Sutton Manor Colliery which closed in 1991. It consists of an elongated white structure 20 metres (66 ft) tall, weighing 500 tons, which has been carved to resemble the head and neck of a young woman with her eyes closed in meditation. The structure is coated in sparkling white Spanish dolomite, as a contrast to the coal which used to be mined here. It cost nearly £1.9 million.

An image of Jacob's Dream captured during an early morning sunrise at Abilene Christian University. This 40-foot tall bronze monument provides an excellent backdrop for a variety of photo opportunities. A genuine work of art, the statue depicts four eight-foot-tall angels acceding to heaven on Jacobs ladder as described in Genesis 28. Often used for weddings, baptisms, and many other functions, the monument is a popular attraction in Abilene.

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ~ J. M. Barrie
"How can you and I really expect to glide naively through life, as if to say, 'Lord, give me experience, but not grief, not sorrow, not pain, not opposition, not betrayal, and certainly not to be forsaken. Keep from me, Lord, all those experiences which made Thee what Thou art! Then, let me come and dwell with Thee and fully share Thy joy'!" ~ Neal A. Maxwell
"When we see our enemies and friends gliding away before us, let us not forget that we are subject to the general law of mortality, and shall soon be where our doom will be fixed forever."
~ Samuel Johnson
"I know how easy it is for some minds to glide along
with the current of popular opinion,
where influence, respectability, and all those motives
which tend to seduce the human heart are brought to bear."
~ Benjamin F. Wade
"Whatever you do, don't discourage your dreaming propensity. Your heart's desires are not empty vaporings. They foreshadow possible realities. Man was made to aspire, to look upward."
~ Orison Swett Marden
“It is beautiful to discover our wings and learn how to fly; flight is a beautiful process. But then to rest on the wings of God as He flies: this is divine.” ~ C. JoyBell C.

This illustration accompanied an article in an old edition of the Illustrated Police News, which was reprinted in a book that I was reading the other night.
The article and picture provided the seed for that night's dream, as I describe in the usual manner here.
Incidentally, this week is the blog's fourth anniversary. Happy birthday, blog o' mine!
