What happened to the American dream? This abandoned barn is just one sign that things are not as they once were. Abandoned and neglected will it stand for another 10 years or will it slowly slip in the twilight like the American dream seems to be.

... if you don't have a dream, how you gonna' have a dream come true!
Hammerstein, South Pacific
Lyrics, sung by Bloody Mary...
Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream, If you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?
Talk about the moon floatin' in the sky Lookin' at a lily on the lake;
Talk about a bird learnin' how to fly.
Makin' all the music he can make.
Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream, If you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?
Talk about the sparrow lookin' like a toy Pickin' through the broaches of a tree;
Talk about the girl, talk about the boy
Countin' all the ripples on the sea.
Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?
Talk about the boy sayin' to the girl:"Golly, baby, I'm a lucky cuss."
Talk about the girl sayin' to the boy:
"You an' me is lucky to be us!"
Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream, If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?
If you don't talk happy,
And you never have dream,
Then you'll never have a dream come true!

Dreaming by Blondie !
"Dreaming"
When I met you in the restaurant
You could tell I was no debutante
You asked me what's my pleasure
A movie or a measure?
I'll have a cup of tea and tell you of my dreaming
Dreaming is free
I don't want to live on charity
Pleasure's real or is it fantasy?
Reel to reel is living rarity
People stop and stare at me We just walk on by - we just keep on dreaming
Feet feet, walking a two mile
Meet meet, meet me at the turnstile
I never met him, I'll never forget him
Dream dream, even for a little while
Dream dream, filling up an idle hour
Fade away, radiate
I sit by and watch the river flow
I sit by and watch the traffic go
Imagine something of your very own
Something you can have and hold
I'd build a road in gold just to have some dreaming
Dreaming is free
Dreaming
Dreaming is free
Dreaming
Dreaming is free
a song by Patti Smith
a thought... seven years in a life of a dog are an equivalent of one year of the human life. dogs are convinced they live long because our time concept is unknown to them... so, let's be optimistic. if we are dogs in the universe, one year of our life could be a second in the life of the universe (that is very optimistic). if someone had a good life, without being a member of the royal family, he/she may have lived 99 seconds of the universal time... hmm, a dream of life is short, isn't it?
this video was taken at the Barbican art centre, in London. there was a free exhibit by an American artist, Peter Coffin: some Pop-artish sculptures set at some distance from a curved media projection wall. I just had a sudden illumination, once I spotted the skull, and I knew I had a subject; it was just a matter of the angle and the framing...
If flowers dream...it must be something like this when sunlight is so soft...

In visions of the dark night
I have dreamed of joy departed--
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me broken-hearted.
Ah! what is not a dream by day
To him whose eyes are cast
On things around him with a ray
Turned back upon the past?
That holy dream--that holy dream,
While all the world were chiding,
Hath cheered me as a lovely beam,
A lonely spirit guiding.
What though that light, thro' storm and night,
So trembled from afar--
What could there be more purely bright
In Truth's day star?

I took this picture while I was dreaming. Kidding. I was on a photoshoot job for a wedding and while running between pictures of the groomsmen and the bridesmaids I turned my head, stopped to take this one-shot for personal satisfaction and carried on with my job. I was really surprised at how it turned out.

Sometimes I have dreams that harken back in time. I'm sorta' in place and out of place; in location as well as time. I belong in both, but usually not at the same time.
I'm 18 (1968) and 62 (2012). I don't remember the specifics of the dream - just moving about with my 62 year old head and face, dressed in 1968 clothes. I feel out of place, but in place. Younger people dig it. Older people think "well, go on and do it." 30 and 40-somethings think I'm acting up.
I've been a good hippie. Cleaned up, had jobs, let go of the drugs, was a bit kookie, but always within respectable bounds, husband, father, grandfather. Did this for 40 years. Now....what? Feelin' slightly restless. Wish to be more kookie, less respectable? Not sure what that means.
This ain't mid-life, `cause I'm past the mid-life years. Just thought of that. Ain't that a bitch? Went through mid-life without a major crises; just minor ones. Oh well, Hell, I dunno'. :-)))))
Then again, how much credence do we give, should we give, to 3:00 am dreams?
Can one - with these years of life and experience within one - manage to be loving, caring, nurturing, supportive, open, giving and responsible, (ALL of which I Still am and becoming moreso with age) and "stone free" at the same time? No, you can't pull it off at 18 - but how about at 62? Yes? No? Worth a try?
Is riding a motorcycle without a helmet to be the extent of our Easy Rider rebelliousness moved forward 40 years, or do we explore past that to where 60 year olds + have not been before? Stone Free dammit.
The Book on Aging has not been written. We are writing its first chapters now. The pages are empty, the are no foot prints in the path before us, tradition is meaningless. Shit, let me continue what i have begun in the last two years (since turning 60). Let us continue what we began back in the 60's.
Or is this just 3:00 am dreams and semi-waking dreams talking? We shall see.
