Wooden Cuties

W-011

plywood

570 pieces

38 x 54 cm

I make no apology for uploading multiple images of our latest puzzle, from a new brand: Wooden Cuties.

Packed in a sturdy box with an illustration of the enclosed puzzle on the front, and a 'puzzle assembly record' to fill in on the back, this brand joins the growing number of British makers using laser technology.

Nice thick pieces (although some are a little on the too-small side for me) and a good selection of whimsies, it's got a slightly loose fit which gives the 'feel' of a hand cut, push-fit puzzle.

Most of the available images aren't to my taste, but I'm hoping that there will be a larger selection in the New Year.

Will I be buying more in future? Probably!

Very girly, isn't it? Maybe it will become a drawstring bag for baby girl living in London.

Six pockets inside and when you open the pouch it sits like a little cloth dish!

Hmmmm....I think I need to put a surprise or two inside!;)

Once I found the green vintage children's bed sheet I knew I would turn it into a quilt and when my grandson was born I also knew it was his! It reminded my of the books I used to read to my children when they were small. A quilt all about roads and cars for a car loving boy!

I should probably focus on spring cleaning my garden, but it snowed last night. So, without bad conscience I pulled out some WIPs to work on.

...também para o pequeno Álvaro :-)

I'm such a lucky girl! I was searching for a map of the world for the back of a childrens quilt and found this panel on ebay. It is from 1981 and comes from Danish designer Jette Viby who was well known in those days. The panel consists of a world map plus the animals and people who live all over the world. I just had to cut them all up and sew them together again. I always like to add some kind of playful touch to the back, something to keep children occupied. BUT the most wonderful thing about this is that I had already made this once before in 1981 for my children to play with. At that time it was hanging on the wall and the figures had velcro on the back to stick them onto the map. This time I added it to the quilt for my latest grandson. So can you imagine how happy I was?

a little easy sewing last night, made using the excellent tutorial from:

sotakhandmade.blogspot.co.nz/2013/05/drawstring-bag-tutor...

My sandal illustration handpainted onto a soft cotton drawstring shoe bag, perfect for your holidays.

Bunny - toy is made of pre-loved (and pre-washed) material. Originally it was Adam's shirt (some 29 years ago) now turn into tiny figure of plushie's toy.

My flip flop illustration handpainted in screeprinting ink onto a soft, cotton drawstring bag, perfect for the beach.

Chocolate truffle cake layers x 3 with buttercream mint filling and chocolate ganache frosting. Fondant, gum paste and molded chocolate decoration.

Snorkel drawstring bag made from left over fabrics from my 'yellow submarine' quilt. The fabric is from Andovers Snorkel range.

I followed a pattern from Sew what! Bags by Lexie Barnes for the basics of the drawstring bag.

More info on the project and fabric can be found on my blog:
