P6's and 7's are looking at tone and using it to make sphere forms. We talked about creating an illusion. By Jove I think they have done it

drawing september 2010

The model we were supposed to have for this session (one of our regulars, who shall remain nameless) cancelled at short notice. Fortunately Robert was able to find a replacement. Nigel has posed for the group before, but not since I joined them.

I arrived a bit late for the session, just in time to catch the last two minutes of what I think was the first pose (which would make it a 15 minute pose). Rather than start in my usual sketchbook I decided to launch straight in with a charcoal drawing on A3 paper.

I think this was a good move as this enabled me to use a looser style that worked better for what was effectively a very short pose.

I WISH : FINE DAYS AND A GOOD 2012. GREETINGS!

Link to a wellknown Christmas story, one of the best: www.gutenberg.org/files/46/46-h/46-h.htm

It is here foggy, rainy weather and dark most of the time and we like to see some green and sparkles. So I decorated a Christmas tree. On my screen. An old sketch - handmade- shown here too - got some green and yellow in the digital program of Corel. It is pleasant to experiment a bit with this program. Ofcourse with real oilpant there would be more subtle nuances of color. This is a simple digital colorcombination. I work here on a dark attic, no daylight, this has influence on my choice for this hard green. An aquarel that I make by daylight, outside, in the summer, with real paint, has other colors!

Next to this the original drawing.

Warming up for life drawing by looking at Cezannes portraits.

This is another drawing from a while back...I think 1994 or 95. At this time, I was submitting my work to independent press publications of the horror and weird fiction genre, in the hopes of getting my name out there. This was among the first of a hanfful of small assignments. Although this seemed like an exercise in futility, I did manage to get some stuff in print...

This man seems to decorate a different pavement in Oxford each Sunday and I am glad to finally photograph him at work. Here he is outside Trinity College, on the Broad.
