The model we were supposed to have for this session (one of our regulars, who shall remain nameless) cancelled at short notice. Fortunately Robert was able to find a replacement. Nigel has posed for the group before, but not since I joined them.
I arrived a bit late for the session, just in time to catch the last two minutes of what I think was the first pose (which would make it a 15 minute pose). Rather than start in my usual sketchbook I decided to launch straight in with a charcoal drawing on A3 paper.
I think this was a good move as this enabled me to use a looser style that worked better for what was effectively a very short pose.
Creación imaginaria de una ciudad del siglo XIX con una plaza dura adoquinada y casas propias de la época.
this is Mordecai Poindexter Hornblossom, named after the MH letters in his license plate number. He was my first car, and had his own membership in the Record Club of America and was invited to enroll in art school once (and of COURSE he got his own copy of the J C Whitney catalogue). When this was drawn, he had already been refurbished a bit (you can see the 1966 GTO bucket seats in the drawing, those were not original in a 4-door 1962 Impala). He met his demise late in 1975, sideswiped on the street in Chicago.
Apparently I had a little more time to write myself little reminder notes back in those days than I do now.....

This is another drawing from a while back...I think 1994 or 95. At this time, I was submitting my work to independent press publications of the horror and weird fiction genre, in the hopes of getting my name out there. This was among the first of a hanfful of small assignments. Although this seemed like an exercise in futility, I did manage to get some stuff in print...

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
The cathedral brings back memories of being child, when I first entered the cathedral as a youngster the colours that surrounded me inside were magnificant. I wanted to bring the colour aspect into the picture but in different way so i used my photography to do this.
