While at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library I got to meet 89 year old Nathen Blackwell of Ventura, Calif. an old-world craftsman, "V-cut" letters, is his specialty. He is very good at what he does. I stood there and watched him do it for a while. He does not make it look easy. He is very precise, painstaking so, especially slow and careful, deliberate. This dude is amazing and he MADE HIS OWN TOOLS MAN ! ! ! In an Article for the L. A. Times by By Gail Davis, he said Michelangelo, was a wonderful sculptor, but lousy at lettering. HAHAHA, hey I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. In 1991 Marcel Mächler carved the bulk of the donor names into the walls of the lobby at the Reagan Presidential Library.

City Hall was built in 1928 and at 452 feet tall (137 meters) was the first high-rise in southern California. It remained the tallest building in Los Angeles until 1964. One of the most famous icons of Los Angeles with its distinctive ziggurat on top, it has been seen in many movies and TV programs, most notably Dragnet and the original 1950's Superman where it played the part of the Daily Planet building.

NOTE: To all you City Bus Freaks out there in the Flickr-verse check out the old 1959-'77 GM model Blue and silver Santa Monica Municipal Bus. ( don't be afraid to fly your freak flag)
I can kick myself that I didn't sneak a few shots with my camera while the mayhem was going on. I was busy ducking and dodging and running red lights to avoid trouble. Almost all the pictures you see were taken on the third day of the riots when the Author-itah started to gain control.
I tip my hat to the journalist that were in the thick of it, they got some fantastic shots.
While in my back yard helping my handyman with some work he was doing I heard a lot of cars blowing their horns right before the crash but when my air compressor came on little did I know that was the moment of impact. The driver of a white Ford van going north on the south bound side of Crenshaw Blvd. struck 2 cars with the Lincoln and it’s occupants receiving the brunt of the force from the collision. The couple that were in the Lincoln had to be freed from their vehicle with the Jaws of Life by the L.A.F.D. The crash which took place around 2:25p.m.Tuse. 9/30/15 at the intersection of 54th street & Crenshaw blvd in the Angeles Mesa area near Leimert Park of South L.A. The driver of the gray Cadillac was uninjured and the driver of the van and driver and passenger of the Lincoln are reported to be in critical condition per NBC News. The investigation was reported as still on going to determine why the van was traveling the wrong way.
9 car wreck injuring 10 people at Crenshaw and Vernon in Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. Case of someone just driving too fast, I wonder if texting was involved.

His home in the West Adams district of Los Angeles was one of the few places in L.A. where he could have a home built because even L. A. black entertainers were not welcome in white neighborhoods due to restrictive covenants. He called on Black American architect, Paul R. Williams to designed his new massive home that sat in an area surrounded by smaller, bungalow-style homes. He also had a pool so the neighbors and their kids could play and swim in the pool. The home is currently a Bed & Breakfast.
Never been a big fan of their food but this NEW old school retro Norms caught my eye..... what can I say? just.... "diggin the scene with a gangsta lean."

synopsis
Highway Dragnet is best known to modern movie buffs as the first film to carry Roger Corman's name in the credits. Corman was one of six screenwriters contributing to this location-filmed suspense melodrama, which stars Richard Conte as an ex-Marine on the lam from a murder charge. Conte hitches a ride from glamour-magazine photographer Joan Bennett, who is travelling cross-country with her principal model, Wanda Hendrix. True to audience expectations, the murderer will at one time or another be an occupant of Bennett's car, though it won't be the person whom the police are looking for. The tense climax takes place in a flooded tract house, with the killer stalking the next potential victim. Criticized for its low production values at the time of its release, Highway Dragnet actually stands up pretty well when seen today. Mrs. Cummings, a free-lance magazine photographer and a recent widow after her husband committed suicide, and her model, Susan, are on an assignment to cover resorts California and Nevada. Driving west from Las Vegas they pick up Jim Henry, a recently-discharged Marine, who is hitchhiking to the home of a friend near the Salton Sea. Meanwhile, back in Las Vegas, a blonde known casually by Jim, is found murdered. Jim becomes the object of a manhunt directed by Police-Lieut. White Eagle of the Las Vegas police.

Hey we are filming here you can not take pictures here. Who are you and who are you with? I'm no body.
You don't look like a nobody with that camera and large lens. You need to delete those pictures now.
Sez who, it's a public street I aint on your property.
You need to go now no more pictures and delete your pictures.
What about the car, are you going to start it up, what's it sound like, are the pipes for decoration or does the car sound like somethin' mean.
No you need to go now, no we are not going to start the car.
Well why don't you put a tarp up on the fence so when people drive by they can't see what you are doing.
