A fire broke out early Friday morning (4/26/13) about 2 am at the Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church in the Windsor Hills / Leimert Park area on the 4900 block of Crenshaw Blvd. Residence near by said they heard an explosion. It took 80 firefighters a little under an hour to put the fire out. The main building was completely gutted by the fire. The south wing of the church facility and Bethesda Senior apartments/home next door suffered little or no damage

The word is someone has a deathwish and shot at a patroling L. A. County Sheriff's car off of Crenshaw on some side street. Don't know the rest of the story. LAPD & L.A. Unified School Dist. Police gave back up.

I was able to take these photos from the Blair Hills area (on a residential cul de sac) which is sandwiched between Baldwin Hills and Culver City just behind Ladera Heights and can be seen from La Cienega Blvd. near the entrance of Kenneth Hahn Park . I have seen this house ... I mean mansion before but never took any real notice till I heard about it on TV and recently saw it in the news paper. This old house sits in the middle of the Inglewood Oil Field with oil derricks as it's only neighbors.

The mansion has a very rich history and interesting dirt about some of Los Angeles high society folks back in the day.

Two man hole covers, asphalt & concrete shower street, front yards and driveways with debris when an underground electrical vault exploded which seems to have been caused by a nitrogen leak. Fortunately no one was hurt and only the back window of a car got blown out.

A lots goin' on down by the river. While taking photos of two U.S. Marine choppers practicing landing/ take off/recovery at the L.A.P.D. Jay Stephen Hooper Memorial Heliport, some camera men and Honda test riders set up shop and I got these shots of Trains, Marines, Ghetto Birds & bikes down by the L. A. Vintage May 1956 issue of Police Dragnet Cases Magazine. No detective/police or true crime magazine would be complete without some lurid item on the cover to “bait” a prospective buyer. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!

Edmund Lincoln "Eddie" Anderson (1905 – 1977), aka Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, was a Black American comedian and actor.

His home in the West Adams district of Los Angeles was one of the few places in L.A. where he could have a home built because even L. A. black entertainers were not welcome in white neighborhoods due to restrictive covenants. He called on Black American architect, Paul R. Williams to designed his new massive home that sat in an area surrounded by smaller, bungalow-style homes. He also had a pool so the neighbors and their kids could play and swim in the pool. The home is currently a Bed & Breakfast.

Me grabbing a box of bottled water to take back home. We are shut out of our Auto Center, can't get to our tools and can't get in to release customers cars that were still inside, one of the cars fell off the hoist.

Demolition after Implosion to weaken the structure for final tear down. If you gotta see your ponies race you still have Del Mar and Santa Anita race tracks to go see them run. Now that this demolition is taking place people are hopeful that we'll get a NFL team coming back to the L. A. area. Hmmm foot ball, golf, tennis, baseball.... sorry I rather watch grass grow, what we need is a drag strip, a motocross park, monster truck stadium a low rider park and show car arena all rolled into one.

synopsis

Highway Dragnet is best known to modern movie buffs as the first film to carry Roger Corman's name in the credits. Corman was one of six screenwriters contributing to this location-filmed suspense melodrama, which stars Richard Conte as an ex-Marine on the lam from a murder charge. Conte hitches a ride from glamour-magazine photographer Joan Bennett, who is travelling cross-country with her principal model, Wanda Hendrix. True to audience expectations, the murderer will at one time or another be an occupant of Bennett's car, though it won't be the person whom the police are looking for. The tense climax takes place in a flooded tract house, with the killer stalking the next potential victim. Criticized for its low production values at the time of its release, Highway Dragnet actually stands up pretty well when seen today. Mrs. Cummings, a free-lance magazine photographer and a recent widow after her husband committed suicide, and her model, Susan, are on an assignment to cover resorts California and Nevada. Driving west from Las Vegas they pick up Jim Henry, a recently-discharged Marine, who is hitchhiking to the home of a friend near the Salton Sea. Meanwhile, back in Las Vegas, a blonde known casually by Jim, is found murdered. Jim becomes the object of a manhunt directed by Police-Lieut. White Eagle of the Las Vegas police.

While in my back yard helping my handyman with some work he was doing I heard a lot of cars blowing their horns right before the crash but when my air compressor came on little did I know that was the moment of impact. The driver of a white Ford van going north on the south bound side of Crenshaw Blvd. struck 2 cars with the Lincoln and it’s occupants receiving the brunt of the force from the collision. The couple that were in the Lincoln had to be freed from their vehicle with the Jaws of Life by the L.A.F.D. The crash which took place around 2:25p.m.Tuse. 9/30/15 at the intersection of 54th street & Crenshaw blvd in the Angeles Mesa area near Leimert Park of South L.A. The driver of the gray Cadillac was uninjured and the driver of the van and driver and passenger of the Lincoln are reported to be in critical condition per NBC News. The investigation was reported as still on going to determine why the van was traveling the wrong way.

I had a clear shot no one in my lane behind me and I thought I would do a little drive by shooting ... with my camera of course. So I slow down to a crawl the train engineer slows way down and starts blowing his horn. I'm thinking you are kidding me...really? If I was going to do harm .... it would be at... never mind don't want to egg someone on that all ready has the same idea but really wants to do something evil. Earlier in the day I was chased off a public side walk for taking pictures of a movie scene prep work by the film crew. Posting those photos next. OOOH THEY TOLD ME TO DELETE MY PHOTOS!! I told them if you don't want to be seen and pictures to be taken then put up a tarp so no one can see what you are doing.
