Who doesn't know David Brill's Double-Star Flexicube?
it's an excellent modular (64 units) action model based on an older plastic game.
some months ago I had the idea to fold it with only one strip of paper.
it took me a lot of time 'cause I've been busy for other projects...
but finally I did it! I know, it's only half one, but I've had to test-fold it to be sure that it was OK.
I'll fold a complete & better version soon (I hope...)
design: Alessandro Beber, April-June 2009
paper: only one, very long strip (1:???)
I got these markers from Orinda5.etsy.com. I plan on using the double loop markers with my Crazy Toes and Heels socks. The natural and black markers are single loops and the yellow and purple are double loops.
As I was idly lying in bed, I investigated the double-exposure app on my iPhone … an interesting result.
A photo about midnight upon arrival at the Hotel Danieli. This is the main room of our double lagoon view room. There is a dressing room and a marble bathroom as well, with a hallway connecting them. Two of the three ceiling height windows open to balconies over the lagoon. (Sorry for my poor GIMP editing skills.)

One of my suit mates, Brandon, is a numismatist, which apparently means that he collects coins. He has hundred of coins in his collection and always carries around a special half dollar his grandfather left him before he passed on. Today he asked me if I could get a closeup of this penny he suspected to be a double die. This means that it was struck twice and will have a 'stereo punched' effect. Since I don't have a macro lens I went to my backup solution. I put my 75-300 on and focused it to ~105mm, then I put my 50mmƒ1.4 and focused it to infinity. Once that was lined up I put the penny in the front and moved it back and forth to find a good focus on the subject. The depth of field was something like 1-2mm with this setup. I used live view-remote shooting to get a razor sharp image. here are some links that are related that you may find interesting.

This is a double rainbow I caught on our trip out to Alabama. I had to do some heavy curvage and a slight sepia effect to bring out the rainbows so please forgive me.
Double Negative is a piece of land art located in the Moapa Valley on Mormon Mesa (or Virgin River Mesa) near Overton, Nevada, which was completed in 1969. The work consists of a long trench in the earth, 30 feet (9.1 m) wide, 50 feet (15 m) deep, and 1,500 feet (460 m) long, created by the displacement of 240,000 tons of earth. Two trenches straddle either side of a natural canyon (into which the excavated material was dumped). The "negative" in the title thus refers in part to both the natural and man-made negative space that constitutes the work. The work essentially consists of what is not there, what has been displaced. The work is currently owned by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) and is accessible by four-wheel drive vehicle or motorcycle.
One thing that was very cool about this evening is that the fog kept changing. It was clear when we sent the balloon up, then it got completely fogged in for a short time, now it is ebbing back out. Taken at the Double Arch area of Arches National Park, with the aid of a balloon.

Kobori Enshû, who designed Kohôan, loved these double-latticed shôji, and I suppose installed them at a lot of places he designed.
