Culver's is a fast food chain which also serves frozen custard. It was all I could do to refrain from ordering the flavor of the day: mint Oreo!
For the October Scavenger Hunt #12 - Double.
It was broad daylight and we were slowing down for the tightest
hairpin turn I know, so we weren't very concerned when we saw this
young moose clambering down towards the road. In any case, he was at
least as worried about our intentions as we were of his, so he slewed
off to the left and headed up another trail.
The number of moose on this island has skyrocketed in recent years and
this was not the closest I've come to hitting one. Last fall in a
thick of fog at luckily only 90 km/hr, I found one, then another, ten
feet in front of me. A second ahead of where we were, I'd have hit
one of them and probably had a very bad crash. A lot of people die
each year now from hitting moose.
They've even invaded the city. The traffic reports on the radio at
this time of year are filled with, and primarily concerned with, moose
sightings on the roads.

When we see a Cormorant flying over land in California, or roosting an a fresh water pond, we can bet it will be the Double-crested Cormorant. Very common along the California Coast.
The young DC Cormorant was perched on a structure only 20' away, so i was limited to a portrait shot.
Me and this game go back. It's given me much inspiration over the years, from Abobos to 80's American Ninja-style heroes, and this is one game I vow to own someday. My fondest memory is beating it at the FAIR ( department store not country fair) in Milford while two teenagers ( I was like 12, and "teenagers" was a scary concept and reality at the time) watched and gave snarky encouragement.
If you like malt liquor, you'll like this stuff. If you like IPA, you'll probably have the same gag reflex I had when I took my first (second, third, fourth... and then I dumped it out) sip.
It's really, really malty, without a hint of hops.

So, turns out, I ran across this old roll of black and white film that I hadn't seen in many months, and the film leader was out, so I thought, "Hmmm, I'll take some black and whites! It's been a while!" Well, I just got the pictures back from the store, and it turns out that I had already taken pictures through that roll. Whoops. So every shot in here is a double exposure. Can you make out who's who or what's what? ;-)
Oh, and apparently, fireworks make really fun crazy accents to regular pictures...haha
