I like this one. It's a potential embroidery design beginning.

This was a crop from the same picture. I don't know who did that doodle. Probably me. I'm known for odd little designs...

black and white doodling

Doodling fun - I was inspired by ladies at Ascot with their outlandish creations and couldn't resist trying out my own! I used leftover silk paint for blobs to blow with a straw, then added some acrylic to the big flowers so they showed up over her hair. As I flicked through magazines looking for the perfect 'model' she really stood out to me!

BLOGGED

I've been enjoying learning to doodle and sketchnote lately. Yesterday was a full migraine day, but I was able to do a page of practice. If you think the top left bicycle (the first one) looks like a 5yo (or 3yo) drew it, so do I :-)

It's amazing to me how my brain works. I've literally ridden thousands of miles on bicycles, and I own four of my own and the family has another half-dozen more. But to recall exactly how a frame and wheels relate to each other, that's a hard task! And then to flip the orientation of it, that's a brain basher also.

"Draw something fifty times and you own it." - one of the artists in the Sketchnote Handbook. Certainly I feel that I own this enough to make it recognizable now.

After the oil pastel step, I had trouble adding the markers step. Next time, I'll skip the oils

doodle in my sketchbook, I like these patterns but never know what to do with them

Thought I'd play with the flowers and leaves I did the other night.

Profile:

Code name: "Doodler"

Real name: Unknown

Species: "The Recorder's" species

Gender: Male

Kanohi: None

Appearance: A dark, twisted and wretched creature, "Doodler" has been deformed to look as those he's constantly on his knees, bent over, even while standing. Part of his torso has been altered so that he always has a pair of hands grasped together, begging and trembling for mercy. He can never look up and must always grovel at the feet of the king. His face is hidden, several random scraps welded to his face to hide any portrayal of thought and emotion.

Personality: Despite a miserable existence, "Doodler" is generally happy. As long as he is able to do the one thing he loves above all else, to draw pictures, reality just melts away. Outside of that state however, he is in constant fear and trembling before the king of the Dark Hunters. Never afraid of anyone else, only the king.

Background: There are many with the title "The Recorder," for many have made fatal mistakes and died. And "The Shadowed One" has many of that species are under his rule, captured and enslaved for whatever purposes are needed. But one of these wretched creatures was a bit different for the others, for he not only could record events, but illustrate them. He was caught doodling while marking down their king's conversation, and though the wretch initially panicked, "The Shadowed One" was surprisingly pleased. The little wretch was quite skilled at it, and so he was given a new purpose, "Doodler," the personal artist of the Dark Hunters. From then on, he was to create accurate portraits of all the Dark Hunters and any events worth recording.

But as with so many of his kin, he made a mistake. In one drawing, he drew himself as this massive, powerful and impressive being next to "The Shadowed One." For this self-inflation, he was tossed into "Savage's" cell. His legs were gnawed off by the bestial Toa before he was able to make it out of the cell. "Doodler" dragged himself around the island, eventually finding a pair of scrapped weapons to use as legs. Crudely done, but he did his best to at least make them look nicer. After which he returned to his spot and chains, back to work, grateful to be alive. And happy, for here he could draw again.

When did I stop drawing? College?

A random doodle that quickly turned into a watercolor piece

I have been taking part in an online class with Susan Sorrell at joggles.com called Doodle Designs.

Here is my first doodle, or part of it anyway that I have cropped to use for a piece of embroidery.

I wish I could draw better.

I found a little ancient pocket sketchbook which I had doodled in whilst on one of the handful of mini holidays I have been on. The last visit to anywhere abroad was in the eighties, so this is fairly old.

I scanned it, printed it out a size bigger and hand coloured it with pencil crayons, then rescanned it and did the background in Photoshop.

Just a bit of fun.

Scanned in my previously posted doodle and went to town on it in Photoshop. I had a lot of fun with the saturated palette and various textures. A nice distraction :)

Finished a notebook at work. Most of it filled with doodling.
