The "Lagoa do Fogo" is one of the largest lagoons of the Azores archipelago and the second largest of São Miguel Island, is located in Ribeira Grande.
In a recent trip to the Azores i´ve lost count of how many times we tried our luck at this spot but the weather chose not to collaborate ... after all the frustration the experience prevails but it would have been even better if the weather had collaborated a bit more ... maybe next time.
In short, this photo was one of the few I could make of this beautiful lagoon without it being completely dominated by fog and rain.
Looking back i think Azores, that week, and this spot in particular, taught us a lot about perseverance right Frank Leinz and Tony Santos?

The Praça do Comércio (English: Commerce Square) is located in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Situated near the Tagus river, the square is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço (English: Palace Yard), because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal, who was the Minister of the Kingdom of Portugal from 1750 to 1777, during the reign of Dom José I, King of Portugal.

I first saw this tree many years ago when I used to drive through Glencoe quite often. I remember thinking at the time, why would a tree choose to grow out of a rock with all this space around it. Obviously the tree knew best as it is still the only tree near it.
Pffft, the weather is so, so miserable here at the moment, so here's another shot of Dusty, our house rabbit, having fun bouncing around the garden when the weather was better.
One of the first things noticed when approaching the church Senhor do Bonfim ( Salvador, Brazil) - thousands of colored ribbons tied to the fencing surrounding the Bonfim. Each one of these ribbons represents a wish or an intense plea for dreams, love, success, health, peace, energy…. A 200-year-old tradition that again, blends the African faith with Catholicism as superstition and miracle granting powers entwine. The fita or “the measure” acquired its name because at 47cm its size corresponds to the length of the right arm on the statue of Senhor do Bonfim which resides on the altar of the church.
The ribbons are a myriad of colors and have the words “Lembrança do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia”, or in remembrance of the savior of Bahia written on them. The original fitas were made of silk and written on by hand in silver. These fitas were draped around the neck and adorned with medallions and holy depictions. Nowadays the ribbons are worn as a good luck charm petitioning for miracles big or small.

A campaign to prevent the Chamber of Deputies vote a project to reduce the legal reserve of the Amazon is being conducted by Greenpeace with support from other civil society organisations. The PL 6424/2005, called "Forest 0", reducing the reserves of the Amazon legal private property from 80% to 50% and allows an offset deforestation in different areas of the originals. The text, authored by Senator Flexa Ribeiro (PSDB-PA), also opens space for the planting of so-called energy plants (such as palm, castor bean, babassu and sugar cane). Lagoa do Fogo (English: Lagoon of Fire) is a crater lake within the Agua de Pau stratovolcano in the center of the island of São Miguel Island in the Azores. Shisen-dō (詩仙堂) is a Buddhist temple of the Sōtō Zen sect in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is registered as a historic site of Japan. It stands on the grounds of its founder, the Edo period intellectual Ishikawa Jōzan (1583–1672), who established the temple in 1641.
A room in the main temple displays portraits of thirty-six Chinese poets. The selection of the poets was based on the opinion of Hayashi Razan. The portraits were executed by Kanō Tan'yū. This and some other parts of the building date to the time of Ishikawa Jōzan.
The temple's gardens are considered masterworks of Japanese gardens.[1] One of them includes a device called a sōzu, a type of shishi-odoshi designed to scare away wild animals such as deer by making a loud noise. Water trickles into a bamboo tube, and when it reaches a certain level, it upsets the balance of the tube. The tube tips over on a pivot, discharging the water, and turns upright, striking a rock and emitting a loud clapping noise.
FAFE (Portugal): Casa do Penedo.
Casa construída nos anos 70 (terminada em 1974) a partir do aproveitamento de quatro rochas. As paredes externas foram revestidas com pedregulhos, semelhantes às rochas originais.
A casa tem dois pisos. No primeiro há uma sala e uma pequena cozinha. No andar de cima, uma casa de banho e três quartos. Tudo bem pequeno, inclusive as camas, para caber no espaço deixado pelas pedras.
