The grade 11 biology classes recently completed their fetal pig dissection. This activity served as a hands on (hands in) review of their unit on “Animals: Structure and Function.” It was an amazing site to see each student relate what we studied in the unit to real life. Although some were apprehensive at the beginning, as the days went by all students forgot their fears and became fully engaged in the dissection.
5th-grade science classes dissected and examined frogs in order to compare/contrast body parts with the human anatomy.
Students in Dave Potter's Ichthyology class at Unity College dissect a variety of fish species during a lab period. They weighed, measured, and identified the specimens before removing the pharyngeal bone for further examination.

Tadaa!! Not as bloody as i expected it to be.. The whole red lump stuff is the liver, the heart is purple-ish still beating rhythmically.. Pretty interesting.. Next week, we're gonna dissect a mouse, which i didn't get to do when i was in high school.. (^^
