I arrived at the Grand Canyon hoping to take some night sky photos, star trails, who knows. But there were only clouds, no stars.. At first, I was disappointed.
But with the clouds came the storms. Wow.

Pearsonville Auto Salvage Yard, Mojave Desert, California. I used a handheld LED flashlight to illuminate the Edsel, and then used it with a homemade snoot to hit the red taillights with red light to make them glow a bit more. We had these amazing clouds most of the evening, creating fantastic shapes with or without long exposures.
This is a real photo taken at night. Everything was illuminated by a big bright moon, an almost full moon, almost bright enough to read a book. And setting my tripod-mounted camera to a long exposure made the camera much more sensitive to light than our eyes on this already bright evening. This is why this photo seems brighter than what we might see at night. It is not due to post-processing. The moon, which reflects light from the sun, also makes the sky bluer, and when the photo is a long exposure photo, the sky will appear brighter, making the blue more apparent. I also illuminated the junkyard car with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight while the camera shutter was open and also illuminated the interior with a blue light. This is not a post-processing creation. No pixels were harmed during the creation of this photo. :D
I am fascinated with how a single long exposure photo can show movements and the cumulative effects of light in a single image. Thank you for reading this and looking at the image. -Ken

Svartifoss is probably my favorite waterfall in Iceland so far. And on an island where it seems like there are more waterfalls than people, that's really saying something. Svartifoss (Black Falls) is a waterfall in Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland, and is one of the most popular sights in the park. It is a breathtaking waterfall, 12 meters high, with black columnar basalt formations which beautifully frame the waterfall and give it its name, Black Fall. Nikon D610/Nikkor 28-300mm. 2.5s f//8 ISO 100.

Un dels llocs que més he anat a fer fotos de cascades aquí a Andorra, és al riu Pollós. La major part dels cops que hi vaig acostumo a fer la foto des del mateix lloc, cosa que no m'aporta gaire, com tinc la composició que trobo millor, em costa buscar més i és un gran error. Aquest cop, però vaig anar amb la intenció de no fer la foto de sempre i anar a buscar una cosa diferent, i vaig trobar una foto que m'agrada força, el que confirma que és un error fer sempre el mateix, cosa que ja sabia.
En aquest cas, volia una cosa més propera a la cascada gran, així que vaig entrar mes o menys al mig del camí entre el pont i la cascada buscant una mica de salt d'aigua per posar al primer pla, tenia aquestes pedres que separen l'aigua en 2 i vaig pensar que podia ser interessant posar-ho al mig i tenir a la part baixa de la foto les dues branques de l'aigua que s'uneixen cap amunt fins a la cascada gran. L'opció de vertical va ser perquè necessitava llargada i no tenia res als costats que m'aportes gaire, en aquest cas ho tenia bastant clar.

The Bringer Of Clouds (5355)
This is a real photo taken at night during a full moon, although here it's covered by storm clouds in this surreal landscape. I set my tripod-mounted camera to a long exposure, keeping the shutter open for a long time, which makes the camera much more sensitive to light than our eyes on this already bright evening. I illuminated the foreground with a hand-held ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight to bring out more depth. This is not a post-processing creation. No pixels were harmed during the creation of this photo. :D I used a Pinout remote controller/app to set and trigger the camera.
I took this photo in Joshua Tree National Park, CA, hanging out with Dave Dasinger while doing so. JTNP is my spiritual home for night photography, and it felt utterly fantastic to return here to photograph here at night and hike during the day.
