I've already posted examples of this "dimple-wing" species, one of four that belong in an as-yet-undescribed genus of lightning beetles (family Lampyridae) but this shot of a male/female pair contained the first male of this species I've encountered. I collected eight of this species in a single afternoon of collecting, all perched on shaded or semi-shaded leaves in Baeza, Napo, Ecuador, ~1800 meters elevation.

As you can see, the aluminum is far from perfect and the bottom fin as seen here has some pitting due to age. Nothing we can do about it...it's part of the signal's story.
