Have a great Sunday!
Today Europeans and Eurocentrics around the world will celebrate "The Discovery of America", even worst, in Spain they will celebrate their "National Day". Some misguided people in Mexico and other Latin American countries will opt for the politically correct "Encounter of Two Cultures".
There is only one correct way to call this date, and it is "Day of Genocide". There was no discovery, millions of people lived in this continent, thriving civilizations as diverse as the landscapes developed an universe of cultural expressions.
There was no "Encounter of Two Cultures". The European invaders systematically destroyed everything they came upon, unleashing the worst and largest genocide known to humankind, a true holocaust never to be matched.
Yet, the indigenous people up and down the continent managed to resist and they are here today, demanding that their voice is respected, working hard so their identity prevails the suffocating forces of neoliberalism.

We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.
