Today's theme for the Flickr birthday challenge is 'artistry'. This one has several layers of art. I started with the image from one of my favorite artists Elsvo. She was one of the first friends I made on Flickr when I first was on back in probably 2008. She is an amazing artist and person. The next level is the sketch of course which I quickly did this morning when the inspiration for this image struck. The third is a little clay man I sculpted to hold the pencil so that I could get the shadows correct. The fourth is my self portrait. And finally the last is the image itself combined in photoshop. The sun has finally risen high enough over our southern windowsill, that a few of the bears (and one dog) that lounge on one side of our bed - are all excited to bask in its rays. HSS!

I grew up in tiny town in central New York State, with tree lined streets and large Victorian homes. Places like that are hard to find these days - but there is a tiny town here in Alaska that gives off those same kind of vibes, and that is where I captured this image.

For "Sliders Sunday" - "processed to the max".

Doc and I spent a lot of time fishing from our boat in the Lynn Canal, in Southeast Alaska. Our boat was moored in Auke Bay, just north of the capital city of Juneau. I captured this shot many years ago when the fireweed was at it's peak, just about mid-summer.

Since we now have parrots in the wild in the UK, I thought why not, they probably eat red autumn berries like the native birds ...
Created on fmy iPad or the TMI Autumn Reds Challenge and the Handheld Art Challenge When Autumn Falls.
iPad applications used for layers, blending, and textures: PicsArt and Pixlr
I used Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac for minor tweaks.
The parrot is free non-atributable stock from Pixabay

(This little snowman and his Christmas tree are a part of the decorations that line my windowsill over my kitchen sink. During these long dark winter days - cheery light is a must in the far north.)
Just back from Sydney's Vivid light festival.
The theme was our indigenous people.
The Sails are illuminated with the work of six Indigenous artists, celebrating the celestial Songlines of Australian Aboriginal astronomy.

This one is from across the water just below the cruise ship terminal.
Like the previous 2 years, we absolutely loved it and Sydney people really well behaved in big crowds.
Thank You Sydney!!!!
Thanks for looking and have a great week.

Why the face in the window?... to see beyond the chickadee.
The image is a sum of 3 separate elements:
- The chickadee
- An old stone silo (found on the RBG grounds)
- The face
The autumn season has ended, and there is a definite chill in the air when I awaken each morning. The temperatures have been hovering in the mid-twenties, and frost covers the ground, as I stand at the kitchen stove whipping up a hearty breakfast for Doc and myself. For the most part, canoes and larger crafts have been put away, in favor of completing the final chores needed for the long winter that looms ahead. I say a sad goodbye to my favorite season, and look toward the sky for the first snow flakes that will herald a new season.
I love the following quote, so thought I'd share it with the few that may have never read it before . . .
"Love many,
Trust few,
But always paddle,
Your own canoe."
This drawing or sketch was inspired by and dedicated to Chrissy who has moved to Utah and fallen in love with the mountains there. I created the sketching or drawing effect using a technique taught by Colin at www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXk3EJ6-Awg. The original photo of Chrissy can be seen in the first comment below. The mountain scene in the Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canda was captured by Kalen Emsley. Her beautiful image can be seen at unsplash.com/photos/Bkci_8qcdvQ. In addition to these two images, I used a third one to add texture (which is predominant in the sky) and applied a couple of gradient maps along the way.
