With temperatures dipping down to 57 F. degrees below zero (with wind chill) in our state today - I am dreaming of spring, and warm-sunny days. The tiny town of Tok happens to be the place recording that bitterly cold temperature this morning, and is just a three-hour drive from our cabin. It makes the 25 F. degrees below zero recorded at our place this morning - feel downright balmy.

Many thanks to xandra m for her lovely source image ivy. A small version is posted below in the first comment box
The fish is my own. So is the background layer SpringReflections which can be found in My Texture Set.
Here it is the dead of winter - and there has been a bear mauling in our state. With temperatures running 30 to 57 F. degrees below zero - you would think that the darned bears would be curled up tight, and sound asleep - but that's not true. Yesterday three skiers in Haines Alaska got a little too close to a bear den - waking the sleeping bruin - and she flew out of her den all fangs and claws. One of the skiers was badly injured and medevacked to the hospital in Juneau. So the moral of the story has to be . . . "let sleeping bears lie", and always carry your bear spray - even in the dead of winter.
(The den you see in this photo is quite large, and located on our property.) I'm not poking my hand in there.

Hello Everyone,
For Sliders Sunday, I took the roses to Topaz Studio for editing and I also added an impressionism filter (Van Gogh). Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

I just love these pretty flowers and for Sliders Sunday, I decided to use a water colour effect that I found in Topaz Studio 2. I hope you enjoy! HSS!
Thank you so much for taking the time to view this image and for leaving me a comment! Have a great day!
The sun is finally winning the war over old man winter. Rivers and ponds now are covered in overflow. I shot this nondescript scene on a flat day filled with gray skies and very little definition. That being the case - I once again decided that I'd spend a little time playing around in my photo software. I took this little landscape through several applications, and once it filled my eyes with color - I put down my digital paint brush. I sure wish winter really looked this way, we wouldn't be so starved for color about the time January rolls around.

The Alaska Ferry System is a fun way to travel from Washington State to Alaska. The landscape is virtually unchanged since the early gold rush days. Snow covered mountains drop into the sea, and you will no doubt see whales along the way.
Doc and I have traveled on every ferry in the fleet, in every season, and always had a great time. Purchasing a stateroom makes the trip even more relaxing and enjoyable. You can sip your favorite beverage in complete privacy, and watch the wilderness slip by your very own cabin window.
Wishing everyone a happy summer.

Original picture taken by iPhone and digitally manipulated by PicsArt App. While absent from Flickr, I have been entertaining myself using some of the free apps available to IOS and Android users. I have spent satisfying hours playing with these and loading the end result onto my Instagram page. This is just a sample from my latest offerings to show you I have not been wholly uncreative while AWOL :)
