I spent several years living in the rain forest of Southeast Alaska. In this image you see a forest service cabin on Admiralty Island. There is a brown bear for every square mile on the island, for a population of about 1,600 bears. That is more than the whole lower 48 US states combined. While Doc and I had a few close encounters - no bear ever became aggressive.

A composite image combining an unconventional, faceless portrait from a black-and-white negative (taken in 1973) and a recent digital macro of wood grain. The original photo was taken with a Minolta SR-T 101 SLR using Kodak Tri-X film. The wood grain macro was taken in 2017 with a Nikon D7000.

National Squirrel Appreciation Day is noticed on January 21. It’s everything in regard to the squirrel. They are so beautiful, from the large cute eyes, to the little standing ears, to the fluffy-tailed hair. The nut-burying herbivorous animal performs a vital function within the setting. It is essential to understand and acknowledge these scurrying animals for his or her lively function. National Squirrel Appreciation Day was created to acknowledge all various kinds of squirrels.

**The squirrel in this image was destroying a towel we had draped over a picnic table to dry. He was so cute that we didn't have the heart to scold him.

The water and weather are fun enough to watch from behind warm dry windows but sometimes it's better to go out and get bathed by it! :D

This started out as a photo of the convention center's glass atrium canopy and then I blended in some water, ripple, and spiral filter effects just because I love a good vortex! :D

Hello Everyone,

Zinnias are one of my favourite cutflowers and the show of zinnias was terrific this year! (They like heat)! While out walking, I spotted a house that sported zinnias along the sidewalk, around the home, along the driveway and just about everywhere! I didn't have my camera so I used my phone for the shot. Then, I couldn't help but have a little fun with these already joyful flowers.

Temperatures are dropping - snow is becoming more frequent - and moose are finding it tougher to get their bellies filled. When you weigh between one thousand, to one thousand four hundred pounds - it has to be tough to keep hunger at bay during Alaska's long, cold, and dark winters.

This moose was searching in our backyard for anything to keep her tummy from rumbling.

This scene was photographed at a small roadside park just north of Hamilton, Illinois on the Mississippi River. I was surprised to see the large wall of vegetation that had grown up in the river (which looks like the opposite shoreline)… giving the appearance that the river was much more narrow than it actually is. I surmised that the river is shallow at this point. In this composite, all of the birds were added.
