Grackles have the most lovely shape

I adore green - prelude to spring.

An egg broke while it was being steamed to the hard-boiled stage and came out of the cooker looking like a little duck. Here you see my Sliders Sunday - "Processed to the MAX!" version. HSS!

(The only thing I did to the egg was to color the shell. No manipulation was needed to change the form.)

(A funny Easter Tale) ~

A parishioner was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed the parishioner by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" The parishioner replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

The rainy season has begun in Alaska, as our state begins its transition from summer to autumn. Here and there the last of the fireweed blossoms cling to their stalks in a desperate move to stay alive just one more day before succumbing to their inevitable fate. All too soon our boreal forest will be devoid of color, and we will once again find ourselves locked in a monochromatic world until next spring.

As of today, it has been exactly 74 days since our last significant snowfall. This has been one of the shortest summers I have experienced in this part of Alaska.

This image shows what it looks like each morning, when Doc trudges out at around eight AM to fill the bird feeders. Doc must be constantly aware of his surroundings, as we currently have several moose, and a few coyotes' roaming through the forest. We are hoping that most of the bears are denned up for the winter - but there is always a straggler or two still looking for their winter home.

I used several processes to create this "Doc" image - starting with Wombo, and then adding my own touches with other photo software I have in my collection.

A wall with hand-laid tile grout fell victim to my ripple filter infatuation.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

This was a utility/storage area in a downtown Seattle hotel, turned greenish by fluorescent lighting.
