On approach, your avatar magically disappears into the trees. The world grows ominously dark. The body-snatching moonbeam whispers TOUCH ME. Ghostly voices wail; an invisible man paces, leaving fading foot prints; an owl hoots amid a chorus of other forest calls. Eyes glow from the bushes. Spiders dangle, and swarms of bats swirl out of the trees. Totemic forest animals loom from the shadows and vanish like dreams. **Please touch!** In addition your eyes and ears, THE MYSTERIOUS FOREST interacts with your avatar physically. There are lots of animations: Sits, Marshmellow-toast; Sleep; Trapped (dare you to click on the spiders!); not to mention the mischievous moon. Look out for those creepy feelers under a rock! A beheaded snake - still poisonous? - twitches and rattles when you walk by. Evocative of the artist's childhood experiences camping, part of this build appeared in the Interactivity Collaboration at Caerleon Art Collective, but much has been added that's new.
"The Mysterious Forest" is 20 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, and, at 174 prims, one of my larger immersive art environments. The imagery is based on my digital drawing "Anza Borrego Oak." This link --- will take you to a web page where you can see the original digital drawing, as well as two machinimas, one about creating the drawing and one about the build at Caerleon, featuring Miss soror Nishi and me dancing with some other avatars.

This portrait is an exploration of the Milwaukee’s history, as well as my own experience with this place. It’s laden with symbolism and references to the things that made Milwaukee a city, like alcohol brewing, iron business and trading, some of the original plant life, and patterns that reference Milwaukee’s first socialist mayor, Emil Seidel. Juxtaposing that is my own experience here, watching. Alcoholism, cold weather, and the stale taste in my mouth.

Part of a series of gestural sketches of dancers in situ, done while watching dance students practice their craft. They are quick 1 to 2 minute sketches using a stylus and tablet with a laptop and Adobe Illustrator. All were done at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver, Canada as part of the Salon Series.
A coloured version of the original pencil sketch of Mai Shiranui in her dance outfit as seen in Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture.

Took a bit longer than expected, much more detail than I thought. 30 hours with a standard desktop mouse.

I really wanted to practice drawing something, so I found this image in my folder of random collected photos and reproduced it in about an hour(?). Not spot on, but something fun to feed my brain, eyes, and hands.
I got the idea for this guy's name from one of my favorite recent Achewood strips and hopefully you've spotted that the name is also a genteel-ization of Samuel L. Jackson.
I'd also like to mention that I drew this while listening to the latest album by Hope for Agoldensummer. I would imagine that Samuel, in his heyday, would best define this music as "beguiling, lively tunes about necking made by devilish women who wear pantaloons". I'm not sure how right he is, but HFAGS is a pretty awesome band. Check them out if you have a moment.

Digital drawing in Adobe Photoshop
I drew this image of my Father and Step-Mother's dog for a birthday card I created myself. I always enjoy realistic drawing in Photoshop; I guess it's the freedom given by an unlimited supply of colors and a virtually endlessly forgiving "surface" to work on.

This was a drawing I did to figure out part of a painting I've been intermittently working on since 2005. In a nutshell, this is a creature sent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a drawing tablet to improve my workflow in photoshop when editing photos. This weekend I was kind of bored and tried drawing a realistic portrait of the Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes. I never did this before, but I'm quite happy with the result!
