Friday, October 18th was our 14th annual Women Making a Difference luncheon! womenmakingadifference.net/ The event helps support Family Support Center and Kids First Children's Advocacy Center, programs of Rural Resources. This was an extra special event this year because we unveiled our new logo: Wo+men Making a Difference! What perfect timing with Patrick Lemmon speaking about the role of men in ending violence! I didn't originally mean to get the man in this shot, but he walked in and I kept it because I thought it contrasted nicely with my original intent. I wanted this photo because of the ingenious use of cardboard to secure a private zone/border for this woman's child.

In the “Make a Difference” workshop, youth helped with several local community service projects. They made 27 gift bags for the Fresh Start Home, 113 mini first aid kits for the Peoples City Mission, and 84 reusable meal tray covers and 20 centerpieces for Holmes Lake Manor. 4-H Clover College is a four-day series of hands-on workshops for youth presented by Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Clover College has grown from 8 workshops in 1996 to 58 workshops in 2016!
