This is part of my diecast car/truck collection.

Both models were issued by Franklin Mint and are 1:24 scale.

The 1936 was issued in 2008. A Limited Edition of 2,500 pcs, mine is # 929. It is finished in Silver-Gray.

The 1951 was issued by D4C in cooperation w/FM. It is D4C LECC VI. One of 675 pcs. It is finished Bali Blue & Pacific Blue.

This looks like a sad roadside yard sale with only a few unwanted items. But in fact, it's the setup for the Divco truck photo.

You can see the houses way in the background and they are the correct distance to make the picture work.

An amusing note here: The guy playing frisbee kept getting closer and closer as time wore on. Eventually he was about 10 feet away and the incoming frisbee almost knocked over the table.

Diecast vehicles of the two wheeled variety rarely make my collection unless included in a multi-set where I have no choice, but i've happily made an exception for the Hot Wheels Motocompo.

Now on its second release its proved popular with collectors despite its tiny size which usually guarantees peg warming status so I can only assume the real vehicle is considered uber cool. Theres not actually much to the casting with a metal body frame encased in plastic but its diminutive size is all part of the package.

Back in the glory days, long before it became what it is now, I was very active on eBay. Early on, eBay was actually called the online garage sale, and was in its infancy. In fact, in those early days, long before membership reached its first million, Pierre was running eBay out of a garage in the Bay area.

During my time as an eBay seller...which ended quite a few years ago...I ran close to 2000 auctions, and made just over 1500 sales. I actually have a framed 'Power Seller' certificate hanging on my library wall. (o;

In those early days, eBay offered no photography function, and many / most auctions were listed without photos. That was a bad idea; people want to see what they are buying from strangers. I did all of my own photography, plus the HTML coding to write the listings and include the photos. (Incidentally, and as proof of obsession, I still have most all of the listing files I wrote back then.)

This photo was one of about a hundred different diecast colllectible cars I sold at auction. At that time I was shooting with the D100, hand held using room lighting. Everything is relative, and even average photos will trump auctions with none.

I continue to do quite a bit of tabletop photography...much higher quality now than this photo...but that type of photography is NOT popular on Flickr. That may be because the subject matter is generally uninteresting, or it may be that folks have found that tabletop photography, lighting, perspective, gear, etc., is far more difficult than pointing the camera at a sunset and snapping the picture. I wanted to share this old shot as a memory for me of both those times with eBay and an earlier time in photography.

This is actually a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Movie!!!
