Enduring time’s flow

With everlasting bonds

A love that does not fade

I took this pic at Vaishno Devi . The temple is near the town of Katra, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the most revered places of worship in Northern India. The shrine is at an altitude of 5200 feet and a distance of approximately 14 kilometers. And the only way to go up there is by walking

Welcome to a night in the office from hell.

It’s 1983 and in an abandoned workplace in the Midlands, two solitary clerical workers sit down at their desks to begin a routine night shift. But as the evening creeps into the night, a confidential file is accidentally opened and a quietly horrifying secret is unleashed. A secret that’ll soon turn their lives of rotas, packed lunches and fag breaks violently upside down and the workers, against each other.

A fantasy thriller with a pounding 1980s soundtrack, Stoke-on-Trent’s Potboiler Theatre invite you to a world of ruthless ambition, desperate escapism and deeply held desires: a world of Devotion.

Devotion was supported with funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council. With thanks also to New Vic Theatre, Mitchell Arts Centre and Moonbrushed Media.

For those of you who don't know. Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib is culturally the most significant place of worship of the Sikhs and one of the oldest Sikh gurdwaras. Its name literally means House of God. The fourth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Ram Das, excavated a tank in 1577 which subsequently became known as Amritsar (meaning: Pool of the Nectar of Immortality),[3] giving its name to the city that grew around it.

Personally its one of my favorite places in the world.

Countless people pinned dollars to Saint Anthony's statue as it passed in procession. The look in this woman's eyes shows the hope behind the gesture

The religious devotion and spirituality of the Filipino people are without peer in the Modern world as religion is an integral part of their daily lives. One lasting legacy of the Spanish Colonial Era is a myriad of historical churches and shrines stretching from Northern Luzon to Southern Mindanao. Despite the ravages of tire, earthquakes, volcanoes and war, many of these churches are in an excellent state of preservation, while many others have been painstakingly restored by devout parishioners. Dating back to the 16th Century, the churches utilize a wide variety of architectural styles, and feature ornate facades, belfries and altars. The natural skills of Filipino artisans have been employed to create stirring works of art. The presence of numerous shrines is a testament to the profound spirituality of the people, their veneration of sacred objects and images, and their steadfast belief in miracles and divine intervention

Every year devotees throng the streets of Trivandrum with their bodies pierced...essentially a 'nercha' (a vow) taken in order to fulfill some wish.

This is an annual sight at the Shivaratri festival here. Though i had taken a few pictures last year, I was stunned to see such young children in the procession this time around. I actually found it rather disturbing...maybe because no child would (sub)consciously make a decision like this, I'm not saying that the children are forced into it...but still its odd, to put children through this (some looked as young as 4-5 yrs)

In the summer of 2006 Portland was gripped with a (then) record-breaking heat wave. The first day I sweated it out in my office on the main floor. I figured the cats would stay in the coolest parts of the house, but they would often want to be near me and hang out in my office instead.

This picture of Scout is from that day, she was up on my bookcase and looking pretty pathetic. This wasn't even her at her worst, I decided not to take the picture when her mouth was hanging open as she looked like she had passed on.

For the next few days, I took pity on the little ones and moved my laptop and LCD into my wife's office in the basement, where it stays much cooler. The cats couldn't quite understand why I didn't just control the weather like the old days, and my protests that I was never omnipotent and that the old house just had air conditioning fell on deaf ears.

Still, I admired their devotion to me that they'd suffer just to be near me.

dear friends!! these days, i have more time to work in my studio, tend to my etsy shop, and visit your photostreams. :)) will you meet me at the teahouse, where we may delight in cups of steaming tea... and music?

may all travelers find joy!!
