Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

1 Kings 3: 9-14 (KJV)

During Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in India, young boys partake in a cherished tradition of adorning blue paint to emulate Lord Krishna, a revered deity in Hindu mythology. Lord Krishna, often depicted with blue skin, represents divinity, compassion, and playfulness. His birth anniversary, Janmashtami, is marked by various rituals and festivities, including reenactments of his life events.

Krishna's mythology is rich with tales of his divine exploits, teachings, and playful antics as a cowherd in Vrindavan. He is celebrated for his wisdom, compassion, and unwavering devotion to righteousness, as depicted in sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavata Purana. Through Janmashtami celebrations and practices like wearing blue paint, devotees reaffirm their connection to Lord Krishna and seek to embody his virtues of love, devotion, and righteousness in their own lives.

This Eastern Bluebird mother was taking very good care of her hungry baby. It doesn't get any better than live mealworms!

I was thrilled to actually get to see the Bluebird fledgelings this weekend. I was bound and determined to get some shots of them so the chores and housework were put on hold. Even though these shots are on the rooftop and not on any of the nearby perches or tree branches I think it was time well spent.

Ellora Cave 16: the Kailasanatha Temple. 8th century.

Conceptualizing an idea that would take 200 years to complete, take 7500 people to finish, with buy-in from 10 generations of stake holders, detailing it to the T (a house of god cannot have a wrong cut), excavating 400000 tonnes of rock, all of these could only have been possible because of the sheer brilliance, love and devotion of those involved.
