After going to a meeting in San Francisco I went to the Sutro Bath ruins Park near the Cliff House. Someone drew lines, not to draw a line in the sand, but to express her devotion to a loved one.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and applied a filter to give the scene a classic look from the intense gold in the original image.

In a quiet corner of a Bhutanese temple, an elderly woman turns her prayer beads beside a great golden prayer wheel. The rhythmic motion and murmured mantras reflect a lifelong practice of faith, embodying Bhutan’s living Buddhist tradition. Here, devotion unfolds not as ceremony, but as part of the gentle rhythm of everyday life.

A serene moment captured at the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) on the edge of Kandy Lake, Sri Lanka. Imagen capturada en la Peña de Arias Montano, de esta espadaña-campanario y las garitas que la custodian. Este lugar es una pequeña meseta a 761 msm, que se encuentra en pleno corazón del Parque Natural de la Sierra de Aracena - Huelva, rodeado de encinas y castaños, dominando los tejados del município de Alájar y gran parte de esta sierra.
Lugar telúrico con cierto halo de misterio, con muchas grutas en su entorno, aquí se encontraron restos de asentamientos humanos pertenecientes a la edad del Bronce. A una de estas cuevas se retiró a meditar Benito Arias Montano, bibliotecário del monasterio de El Escorial en tiempos de Felipe II, a esto se debe el nombre del lugar.
Pero antes, los árabes en el año 1114, entraron con sus tropas en el lugar y sintieron esas vibraciones especiales de misterio por lo que consideraron el lugar como sitio de oración de La Laxar árabe.
En esta peña existe también El santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles, levantado en el siglo XVI, que alberga la imagen titular de gran devoción en los pueblos de esta serranía y por la que se celebra una romería cada ocho de septiembre.

Image captured in the "Peña de Arias Montano", of this bell tower and the sentry boxes that guard it. This place is a small plateau at 761 meters above sea level, which is located in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena - Huelva Natural Park, surrounded by oaks and chestnut trees, dominating the roofs of the municipality of Alájar and a large part of this mountain range.
A telluric place with a certain aura of mystery, with many caves in its surroundings, remains of human settlements belonging to the Bronze Age were found here.
Benito Arias Montano, librarian of the monastery of El Escorial in the time of Philip II, retired to one of these caves to meditate, which is why the place got its name...But before, the Arabs entered the place with their troops in the year 1114 and felt those special vibrations of mystery, which is why they considered the place to be a place of prayer for the Arab Laxar.
This rock also houses the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Angels, built in the 16th century, which houses the titular image of great devotion in the towns of this mountain range and for which a pilgrimage is held every 8th of September.

La piccola frazione di Nonta nel comune di Socchieve, in provincia di Udine, in Carnia: poche case, segni di devozione popolare, porte e portoni con decorazioni in legno.
The small hamlet of Nonta in the municipality of Socchieve, in the province of Udine, in Carnia: few houses, signs of popular devotion, doors and gates with wood decorations.
There are these pictures that are not what they seem to be at first sight.
But maybe they are. Who knows?
In 2009 a statue of a Border Collie dog called Ruswarp (pronounced Russup) was placed on the platform of the refurbished Garsdale Head railway station on the Settle-Carlisle railway line in Cumbria. (It was once in Yorkshire, now in South Lakeland and is also in the Yorkshire Dales National Park).
This commemorative bronze sculpture was funded by public subscription. It was made by sculptor Joel Walker and celebrated the saving of the railway line from closure in 1989. The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle had coordinated that, and their first secretary was Graham Nuttall. He was a keen hillwalker, and his dog Ruswarp signed the petition to save the line with his paw print.
On 20 January 1990, Graham and Ruswarp went missing. He had bought day return tickets from Burnley to Llandrindod Wells to go walking in the Welsh Mountains, but they never returned. A lone walker found Graham's body on 7 April 1990.
The 14-year-old Ruswarp had stayed with Graham for 11 weeks in winter weather; he was so weak that he had to be carried down the mountain. His veterinary fees were paid by the RSPCA, who awarded him their Animal Medallion and Collar for 'vigilance' and Animal Plaque for 'intelligence and courage.'
Ruswarp passed away shortly after Graham Nuttall's funeral.
