In the serene ambience of a Balinese temple, an elderly lady stands with quiet grace. Clad in a traditional kebaya, her attire is a vibrant tapestry of intricate patterns and rich colors, symbolizing the cultural heritage of Bali. She holds a woven prayer basket, filled with offerings of flowers and incense, poised for her ritual devotion. The temple's ancient stone carvings create a sacred backdrop, enhancing the sense of timeless spirituality and devotion in this poignant scene.

The photo is about a festival called Rakher upobash. When thousands of Hindu people sit together with lamps & fruits & they pray to God. They remember Baba Loknath who was an 18th Century Hindu saint of Bengal. Hindu devotees take fast whole day and pray in earnest to the gods for their favors during the ritual called Rakher Upobash traditionally.

“Whatever I am offered in devotion with a pure heart - a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water - I accept with joy.”

(From the BHAGAVAD GITA)

These ladies made a long trip to Varanasi (Benaras) in order to be shaved along the holy waters of the Ganges.

This pilgrimage to the city of Lights must have been very special to them, they sacrificed their hair as a sign of devotion and they were happy showing a deep contentment...

Devotion save me now

I don't wanna stray from the hallow ground

I'll turn temptation down

I'm asking you to take me to safety this time

Devotion, devotion...

I'm a slave unto the mercy of your love

For so long, I've been so wrong

I could never live without you.

Devotion, devotion...

Take me to safety

Envelope me

In your scarlet embrace

Let me show you unmitigated love

Let me be your true experience of deep passion"

It was incredibly touching to witness the interaction between this cow bison & her newborn calf. The baby couldn't stand for more than a minute or two, but mom kept trying to encourage it to stand & nurse. I realize experts say animals don't feel LOVE...but I think they're wrong. Seeing these two convinced me LOVE is felt by animals, too!
