The Vegas Tourist attended the 53rd Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, held December 1 to 10, 2011 at the Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas.

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the championship event for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s rodeo year.

Barrel racing is a high speed, athletic event that requires precision and timing. Barrel racing is primarily an event for women. Cowgirls and their horse will attempt to complete a clover leaf pattern around three barrels in the fastest time without knocking over any barrels.

The clover leaf pattern is three barrels set in a triangle formation, with the cowgirl’s being able to use either the left or right barrel as the first barrel of the pattern. The cowgirl’s run is timed by an electronic eye (a device using a laser system to record times). The timer starts as soon the cowgirl and her horse enters the arena, and will end once the pattern has been completed and the cowgirl and her horse exists the arena. The run time is dependant on several factors including arena ground conditions, the horse’s mental and physical condition, and the skill of the cowgirl.

The cowgirl and her horse will enter the arena at full speed from the alley, turn either the left or right barrel, race across the arena to the second barrel, turn that barrel, and race to the top or third barrel. The cowgirl and her horse will turn that barrel and race back down the middle of the arena and exit the arena via the alley that they entered. If a barrel is knocked over the run will have an additional five seconds added to the final time for each barrel knocked over.

Barrel racing horses are fast, agile, intelligent and very well trained.

The Vegas Tourist would like to thank the Thomas and Mack, the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association), the Cowboys and Cowgirls, the stock contractors, and the fans for their support of rodeo.

Come join The Vegas Tourist for ten days of rides, the wrecks, and the unforgettable moments of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Let’s Ride!!

Revolutionary New USB Charging Device Set To Launch via

Crowdfunding Campaign.

Mobile devices to charge 400% faster than standard USB chargers.

Los Angeles, CA – July 7, 2015. USBeast Electronics has developed an on-the-go USB charging device that will change the way consumers charge their mobile phones, tablets, cameras and even the latest Macbook and Google Chromebooks. With the ability to utilize 2.1 amps of charging power, USBeast can charge a dead iPhone at least 6 times to a full charge without the use of a wall outlet and do so 4 times as fast.

Increased use of technology in all areas of our lives has highlighted an already nagging problem: Too many electronic devices and not enough charging capability. On site workers, outdoor enthusiasts and people living under the constant threat of a natural disaster are increasingly faced with the problem of finding adequate ways to charge their USB powered devices.

The USBeast solves that problem like no other USB charger on the market today. With millions of cordless power tools and camping accessories already sold, there’s an established mass market of people who can use their cordless tool batteries to charge their mobile devices. The USBeast utilizes many different brands and voltages of cordless tool batteries to simultaneously charge 2 mobile devices. For example, an iPhone and iPad can both go from 0% to fully charged at the same time, without the use of a wall outlet. There is no other charger on the planet with that capability.

After several prototypes, the USBeast design team has worked feverishly to approve the version which is now ready for mass production. The final USBeast design has been field tested and sold online in small quantities, receiving positive feedback from both consumers and testers alike. USBeast Electronics has a live crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter.com and pre-orders of the USBeast are now being taken! The company is also selling USBeast Brand merchandise to assist in generating the financial resources necessary to mass produce and bring the USBeast to market. When the funding goal of $15,000 is reached, USBeast Electronics will begin full scale manufacturing with the finished product proudly being made in the USA.

"We are committed to revolutionizing the way consumers charge their USB powered devices and dedicated to making this product a huge success,” says Jonathan Williams, founder of USBeast Electronics and The Artisans Studio. “We will strive to provide the best quality product and update our backers every step of the way.” Williams continues, “And provide the assurance that all USBeast orders will be shipped on time.”

This Kickstarter.com campaign will end on August 21, 2015

USBeast Electronics is on a mission to create the next generation of mobile electronic charging products for the current and next generation of mobile devices. For more information contact: or email sales@getusbeast.com.

here is the actual device that is doing all of the work...it doesn't look like much, but each selection of wire and component, where they are placed, and how they are linked takes about 3 weeks of math and calculations, and the chemistry and micro, nano, and quantum physics involved must be considered and factored into how the device will operate..basically really annoying!

IdemoLab, DELTA joined forces with KEA's Jewellery Design program and Wearable Technologies in collaboration to create 'Meaningful Jewellery' for their wearable technology project, and to host the Wearable Tech Global Picnic.

At the event "Jewellery of Tomorrow", KEA students from all semesters exhibited their projects (Meaningful Jewellery, Mixed Media, and Portfolio). The Meaningful Jewellery Devices class was part of a collaboration between Vanessa Julia Carpenter of IdemoLab, DELTA and Petra Ahde-Deal of KEA. Vanessa is exploring the Design of Meaningful Smart Devices and introduced to the class how to work with hardware and think about creating non-screen, tangible, embedded interactive devices which create value and are meaningful in people's lives.

In the coming decade, wearable technology will touch nearly every aspect of our lives. The jewellery students from KEA shared their 8-week journey in creating meaningful jewellery devices and their functional prototypes. Understanding the functionalities of different sensors and using the knowledge of design thinking and user experience, the functional jewellery prototypes are the nexus of design, innovation, imagination and function.

More about Manny Villafaña

His rich biography is a tale of a rough start in the South Bronx to become the founder of several successful medical device companies, including St. Jude Medical (now a key component of Abbott), Cardiac Pacemakers (now a key component of Boston Scientific) and ATS Medical (now a key component of Medtronic) in addition to several other companies that went public.

After beginning his medical career with the medical device exporter Picker International, Villafaña joined Medtronic in 1967 and became the company’s first international sales administrator. In the early 1970s, he found.ed Cardiac Pacemakers Inc, which pioneered the first lithium-powered pacemakers and defibrillators—technology that is incorporated into virtually every pacemaker and defibrillator in the world. In 1976, he established St. Jude Medical Inc., which developed a mechanical heart valve that continues to dominate the market.

Villafaña has established other successful medical technology companies over the past several decades. His most recent startup, Medical 21 Inc., is focused on the development of an artificial artery that would spark a major advancement in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery

This is a photograph from the 6th running of the East of Ireland Marathon series in Longwood, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 6th May 2017 at 09:00. This East of Ireland Marathon Series also featured a half marathon race and a 10KM race. The races were run in good weather conditions - dry conditions but a tough breeze to contend with on various parts of the course. There was a wonderful atmosphere amongst all of the runners and the looped course meant that every passed by the race HQ every 5KM.

Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. You can share directly to: email, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal, and Wordpress and Blogger blog sites. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.

BUT..... Wait there a minute....

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?

You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.

I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?

If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

In summary please remember when requesting photographs from us - If you are using the photographs online all we ask is for you to provide a link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. You will find the link above clearly outlined in the description text which accompanies this photograph. Taking these photographs and preparing them for online posting takes a significant effort and time. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.

I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

While running around north central Texas, I came across these things and could not figure out what they were. Farm implements, storm sirens, directional radar units, thetan collection stations? I needed my Google-brain to figure it out. After researching the company, it turns out these are FunnelWheel Wind Generators. Yea, I've never heard of them either.
