The 218th Regional Training Institute, South Carolina National Guard, conducts the 12B combat engineer reclassification course at McCrady Training Center in Eastover, South Carolina. The class is made up of National Guard Soldiers from multiple states and is being conducted August 8-22, 2020. Throughout the course, the Soldiers learn through classroom instruction and hands-on training covering breaching, mines and firing devices, reacting to explosive hazards, constructing demolitions systems, executing military operations on urbanized terrain training, and more. I know it's not a great picture. I had my wide angle lens on, and this woman was pretty far out in the water, so I had to crop, and crop again to get close enough to see her, and the picture lost a lot of quality in the translation, but I think it's a funny kind of picture, and I like it. I know all about those natural flotation devices. I have a pair of my own.
Metrification was a big, and presumably confusing thing back in the day, so various devices were produced to help people to understand how long a foot was in metres, how heavy a pound was in kilograms and so on. When I saw this for sale on Ebay I decided to buy it as any sighting of the Nafta brand is pretty rare.

Pitot Tube
This tubular device was invented by French hydraulic engineer Henri Pitot (1695-1771) based upon his study of the flow of water in rivers and canals. Called a "Pitot tube," this pressure measuring instrument senses the velocity of a fluid (such as air) flowing past a fixed point. The Pitot tube points directly into the airflow, allowing total air pressure to be measured. At the same time, ambient air pressure is measured using static ports on the sides of the fuselage. Instruments compare the two pressures and thereby determine the indicated airspeed of the aircraft, which is displayed to the pilot via the airspeed indicator in the cockpit.
History of the F-106A "Delta Dart"
First manufactured in 1959, the F-106A was developed to be an all-weather interceptor against Soviet attacks. These aircraft were equipped with the MA-1 system, which took control of the aircraft in order to maintain proper altitude, attack position, and fire missiles. The MA-1 system could break the aircraft off from attack runs, come back to the vicinity of its base, and return control to the pilot for landing. Production of these aircraft ended in 1960 after 277 had been built.
The F-106A "Delta Dart" at Hill Air Force Base
In the late 1950s, the Ogden Air Materiel Area performed maintenance, supply support, and modifications on the F-106 aircraft weapon system.
The F-106A on display was manufactured in 1959, and after spending some time at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center in Arizona, it transferred to a base in Illinois where it was converted to a QF-106 target drone. In 1998, the aircraft returned to Arizona as one of the last six flying Delta Darts. In 2002, the Hill Aerospace Museum acquired the aircraft and restored it for display.
Interesting Fact
In 1959, the F-106 set a world speed record at 1,525 mph!

Le Redoutable was the lead boat of the class of ballistic missile submarines in the French Marine Nationale. Commissioned in 1971, was the first French SNLE (Sous-marin Nucléaire Lanceur d'Engins, "Device-Launching Nuclear Submarine"). The submarine was decommissioned in 1991 and in 2000 it was removed from the water and placed in a purpose-built 136 metres dry dock at Cité de la Mer and turned into an exhibition (after the nuclear reactor had been removed!). It is the largest submarine open to the public and the only near-complete ballistic missile submarine hull open to the public.
The Cité de la Mer ("city of the sea") is a maritime museum in Cherbourg, Normandy. Opened in 2002 it contains the Redoutable (a nuclear submarine), an exhibition about the Titanic which called at Cherbourg on it's fateful maiden voyage, a collection of aquatic vehicles, and the deepest aquarium in Europe.

Its a very early exposure meter circa 1900ish.
This is probably a later version.
The back rotates and exposes some silver paper which gets dark on recieving light, the paper seems to recover later on.
You measure how many seconds it takes to match the surround grey black thing and take that as your light reading,
Scott of the antarctics photographer 1902 had one of thes and praised it fulsomely.
He must have been a fit chap lugging around the huge weight of huge camera, tripod and glass plates.
The f numbers are intriguing here, talk about dark!
Ill just set my camera to f90 and 300 seconds lol that should give a good depth of focus.
Hope I dont get camera shake.

Device #1: A Wearable Garden is the first in a series of three planned wearable devices for performance in Second Life (SL). These devices are intended to give myself and/or my representation a heightened/augmented sense of place.
Device #1 is primarily a visual prop for myself as viewer of my representation from a non first person point of view. It functions in much the same way as a flat used in theatre, providing a background and context to the presented content. Here the background is worn by my representation and so moves, clumsily, with my representation through the 'virtual' space. The imagery, a live video feed from my garden in Cardiff, Wales, 'real' life, is static while my representation moves. Seen in relation to the environment of SL, computer graphics overlaid with a graphical user interface and framed within a windowing operating system, it is the video feed which becomes more unreal, representative, virtualised and affirms the visual identity of the place we would normally call 'virtual'.
