On May 17, 2025, the new Fossiléa Museum opened its doors in Saint-Jean-des-Vignes, a charming village of the Beaujolais region near Lyon, France. The museum, offers an immersion in the region's geological history, showcasing a unique natural heritage. In particular, the museum features a collection of iconic fossils, such as ammonites, belemnites, and a giant ichthyosaur (10m length), testifying to the paleontological richness of Beaujolais. 3D reconstructions and digital displays allow visitors to understand the evolution of the landscapes and species that populated the region. A 4-hectare botanical garden and a geological trail complete the visit, offering a comprehensive approach to local natural history.
I visited the museum on Sept. 23, 2025 where I brought along with me my lovely Rolleiflex 3.5F (1960-1964, see below for details) loaded with a Lucky SHD 400 black-and-white film (Made in China by Lucky Medical Technology Co., Ltd.). The film, that I never tried before, was exposed for its nominal 400 ISO. Light metering was done using a Minolta Autometer III equipped with a 10° finder for selective metering privileging the shadow areas or its opale dome for incident light integration.

注意事项
4. 胶卷保存温度应不超过21C，相对湿度不大于65%，防止受到放射性物质及硫化氢、氨等有害气体的侵害。
5. 低温下保存的胶卷，使用前应提前取出，在室温下可放置1-2小时后，再打开包装，以免水汽凝结在胶片表面而损坏胶卷。
6. 装卸胶卷应在背光处，避免阳光直射。
7. 胶卷的照相性能会随着保存时间的延长而衰变，应在保存期内使用，已装入相机的胶卷应尽快使用。
8. 胶卷在保质期内，如发现系制造上的质量问题，可将原产品完整邮寄给经销商，经确认后可换成相同数量的胶卷。

Instructions pour le film noir et blanc Lucky SHD400-120
Le film SHD400 nouvelle génération de Lucky est un film panchromatique noir et blanc haute qualité, haute sensibilité, adapté à la photographie en faible luminosité et sportive. Il offre une grande clarté, une grande latitude et une haute résolution. Ce film utilise une nouvelle base qui améliore ses propriétés physiques et mécaniques, son lissage et son anti-adhérence, le rendant ainsi adapté au stockage longue durée et à diverses conditions de développement.
Développement
①Développement dans l'obscurité totale. La méthode de développement recommandée est D-76 (20 ml) pendant 9 minutes, avec agitation continue pendant 10 secondes et repos pendant 1 minute. Pour les temps de développement à d'autres températures, voir le tableau ci-dessous.

②Pour le fixage, la méthode recommandée est F-5 (20 °C) pendant 5 à 10 minutes.
③Pendant le développement, le contraste varie avec la vitesse d'agitation ; une agitation plus rapide produit un contraste plus élevé. ④ Le révélateur D-76 peut être utilisé pour le développement de la sensibilisation (à 20 °C, durée prolongée).
Remarques
① Les films doivent être conservés à une température ne dépassant pas 21 °C et à une humidité relative ne dépassant pas 65 % afin d'éviter toute exposition aux substances radioactives et aux gaz nocifs tels que le sulfure d'hydrogène et l'ammoniac.
② Les films stockés à basse température doivent être retirés de leur emballage avant utilisation et laissés à température ambiante pendant 1 à 2 heures avant ouverture afin d'éviter la condensation à la surface du film et tout dommage.
③ Le film doit être chargé et déchargé dans un endroit sombre, à l'abri de la lumière directe du soleil.
④ Les propriétés photographiques des films se détériorent avec le temps. Ils doivent être utilisés pendant leur durée de conservation. Les films déjà chargés dans un appareil photo doivent être utilisés dès que possible.
⑤ Si un rouleau de film présente un défaut de fabrication pendant sa durée de conservation, le rouleau d'origine peut être renvoyé intact au distributeur et remplacé par une quantité équivalente après vérification.
Ce produit a passé avec succès l'inspection et est conforme à la norme N/LK10332.2-2007.

After the view #12 exposed, the film was fully rolled to the taking spool and was developed in a Paterson tank with a spiral adapted to the 120-format film with 500 mL of Adox Adonal developer (identical to the original Agfa Rodinal in its formula of 1891) prepared at the dilution 1+25 . The film was processed for 7 min at 20°C with regular 10s agitation every minute.
Digitizing was made using a Sony A7 camera (ILCE-7, 24MP) held on a Minolta vertical macro stative device and adapted to a Minolta MD Macro lens 1:3.5 f=50mm. The light source was a LED panel (approx. 4x5') CineStill Cine-lite fitted with film holder "Lobster" to maintain flat the 120-format film.
The RAW files obtained were inverted within the latest version of Adobe Lightroom 14 (14.5, Aug. 2025) and edited to the final jpeg pictures without intermediate file. They are presented either as print files with frame or the full size JPEG's possibly together with some documentary smartphone color pictures.
About the camera:
I got this stunning Rolleiflex 3.5F from a French artist near Paris, France. The camera came in it original box and leather bag with accessories and a reference book year 1955. The whole kit is in a remarkable state of conservation.
The Rolleiflex 3.5F is the model-3 that Rollei-Werke Franke & Heidecke produced in about 50.000 units in Germany from 1960 to 1965. The Rolleiflex originates from 1928 for the very first model and was produced still in a limited number until the years 2000’s. The 3.5F model 3 was available etheir with a Schneider-Kreuznak Xenotar taking lens or the Call Zeiss Planar 1:3.5 f=75mm as this camera. The Rolleiflex, that was a quality reference for many professional photographers in the 50’s for the medium-format 6X6 camera’s. Many worked both with the Leica M3 (starting from 1954) as small-format 24x36mm camera and the Rolleiflex for other appliances. The Rolleiflex remained one of the most iconic and trusted camera of all the times.
This specific 3.5F is labelled on the right side with nice badge made of enameled brass « T » « Telos » that was the exclusive first French importer of Rollei to France until 1972.
The Rolleiflex 3,5 F model 3 is equipped with the Synchro-Compur central shutter MXV CR00 with cone-wheel differential. The distance scale is only in meters here with automatic DOF indication. Serial number with ‘3,5F’ prefix on of top name shield.
I detailed the camera and accessories and studied carefully the user manual and the book to before familiar this beauty before waiting for a quiet moment to prepare for a test film. I did not trust the old leather original neck strap to carry this precious machine on the field to avoid the real risk to drop the camera. I ordered a new one from a manufacturer in China for a safe operation of the field.
