China Developing

China's urban development is concomitant with its economic development and integration with the dynamics of globalization. The gaps are widening between cities and countryside to reach limits never crossed. The development of rural areas, where more than 600 million Chinese still live, is a gigantic task for the Communist Party. That's why the government is building territory development programs. And comfortable houses rather than wooden houses. Young people are convinced.

These laudable goals want to make the Chinese people a "rich people" and the country the world's largest economic power, while in the countryside the population is very poor. People still live there as in the Middle Ages. Xi Jinping, the Chinese PC President has imposed a new motto: the Chinese Dream as the American Dream. It is about working for the great renaissance of the Chinese nation

Yantic Falls - Indian Leap. Great history of this place - It was a favorite encampment of the Mohegan Indians. In 1643 Uncas, Sachem of the Mohegans, led his warriors in the famous battle against their rival tribe the Narragansetts. A large chasm - that had also become the genesis for the Industrial development in Norwich, CT with the developement of a grist mill in the 1600s by John Elderkin. Industry and waterpower in the area dates back to the 1600s to the early 1900s. Please feel free to share

Rover ECV 3-1 Prototype (1981) Engine 1113cc S3

ROVER SET

www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/sets/72157623690660271...

When Michael Edwardes BL there were many pressing issues to address the most pressing were the labour relations, which were reducing the company to a laughing stock and the urgent need for new model developement. within the company needed reform, which was pressed through very quickly – culminating in the sacking of Derek ‘Red Robbo’ Robinson. The second issue was the setting up of BL Technology, bringing the randdom research and developement departments together at a new facility at Gaydon under the leadership of Spen King.

The first concept car masterminded by Spen King made its appearance entitled ECV2 (ECV standing for Energy Conservation Vehicle) made its appearance a running prototype for aerodynamic and running gear research the car was not intended as a future production car but had fuel economy as its number one goal. Based on the ADO88 it acted purely as a running prototype for aerodynamic and running gear research its headline figure proved sensational for the day with consumption figures measured at 100mpg at 30mph and, more realistically, over 60mpg at 60mph and 55mpg on the combined ECE dynamometer cycle accompanied by a statement from King stating that BL cars should be performing to these standards by the end of the 1980s.

In the next phase of developement ECV3, developement not only focused on fuel efficiency but in making the car ultra-aerodynamic and exceptionally light – and its three-cylinder engine would be matched up to a Borg-Warner CVT transmission system.. n December 1982, BL Technology revealed ECV3 to the press. nd, like its predecessor, it was made very clear that it would not be going into production, but would merely act as a mobile test-bed for new ideas and engineering concepts. Designed to Alec Issigonis principles of the maximum amount of interior space for minimum external size the car offered more legroom than the two foot longer Ford Sierra. Was capable of a top speed of 114mph had fuel consumption figures of 133mpg at 30mph, 81mpg at 56 mph and 61mpg at 75mph.Aerodynamics played a big part in this – its co-efficient was 0.24 and its weight was also phenomenally low at 664kg. The 1113cc three-cylinder engine used in the ECV3 was unusual for being a single-cam, four-valve per cylinder design of 70bhp. Like the Rover P6 the ECV3’s body involved a load-bearing ‘baseframe’, to which unstressed panels were attached. n this instance, the baseframe was made of aluminium and the panels were all plastic, contributing to the car’s low overall weight. In fact, the body-in-white weighed a mere 138kg, roughly half that of a contemporary steel monocoque Overall, an exceptionally efficient package. lessons learned in the engine design were used in the K-Series engine,

But Kings original goals of lighter more efficient aerodynamic future cars were somewhat thwarted by a growing legistlative push towards increasing passive safety regulations that demanded more and more secondary safety equipment.and their resultant weight. Also at the time of the ECV conception the risk of an impending energy crisis had diminished meaning focus that the focus turned from weight saving to increasing the efficiency of engines and aerodynamics to attain higher levels of refinement and performance.

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum is a Buddhist temple and museum complex located in the Chinatown district of Singapore.

The temple is based on the Tang dynasty architectural style and built to house the tooth relic of the historical Buddha. The ground breaking ceremony was conducted on 13 March 2005. Costing S$62 million and 2 years later, a soft launch was held to coincide with the 2007 Vesak Day celebration." It is claimed that the relic of Buddha from which it gains its name was found in 1980 in a collapsed stupa in Myanmar.

Since opening, the temple has become a popular attraction within Chinatown. Simple vegetarian fare is served in the basement of the temple, though donations are accepted.

The Porsche 968 evolved from the 944. and could easily have been called a 944 S3. In developement for a revised 944 S2 80% of the 944's mechanical components were either significantly modified or completely replaced by the engineers, leaving so little of the outgoing S2 behind that Porsche management chose to introduce the variant as a new model, entitling it 968. The 968 was powered by an updated version of the 944's straight-4 engine, now displacing 3.0 L changes to the power train also introded the then new VarioCam variable valve timing system, newly optimized induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel, and updated engine management electronics among other more minor revisions.

The 968's styling was an evolution on that of the outgoing 944 which in turn was an evolution of the 924 ike the 944, the 968 was sold as both a coupe and a convertible.

The 968CS (Club Sport) was designed as a road and track day car, the car was lightened with a reduction to the sound deadening material, and loss of electrical windows. Upgraded stereo systems, air conditioning, and sunroof were optional. Recaro racing seats replaced the power-operated leather buckets, a revised suspension reduced ride height, the car rode on 17 inch wheels that were wider than the originals, rather than the 16 inch on the standard 968. The 4-spoke airbag steering wheel was replaced with a thicker-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel with no airbag, heated washer jets were replaced with non heated, vanity covers in the engine bay were deleted, as was the rear wiper. The Club Sport has no rear seats, unlike the 2+2 Coupe.

A UK-only version called "968 Sport", was offered in 1994 and 1995, and was essentially a Club Sport model (and was produced on the same production line with similar chassis numbers) with power windows, electric release boot, central locking, cloth comfort seats (different from both the standard and the Club Sport). With the added electrics the larger wiring loom was used. The Sport Variant also got back the two rear seats, again in the cloth material specific to the Sport. At £29,975, the 968 Sport was priced £5,500 lower than the standard 968, but had most of the latter's desirable "luxuries" and consequently outsold it by a large margin (306 of the 968 Sport models compared to 40 standard 968 coupés)

Chrysler Centura (1975-78) Production 19770

Registration Number JVC 263 N

The Chrysler 180 was the base name for a series of large saloon cars produced by Chrysler Europe. resulting from a joint developement by Rootes (UK) and Simca (France) .

In 1966, under the direction of Roy Axe, the Head of Design, Rootes Group team started working on what was internally named the "C Car" (in reference to the smaller "B car", which became the Hillman Avenger), a new large car for Rootes to replace the Humber Hawk. The Rootes development programme also comprised the development of a brand-new V6 engine, with a 60° vee angle, with two versions of the displacements of 2.0 and 2.5 litres. At the same time, in France, Simca was working on Projet 929, which would be Simca's first large car since the Vedette was cancelled in 1961, and also partially replace the Simca 1501 in its role of the range-topping Simca.

With the UK joining the EU, and the scrapping of import tariffs Project management was moved to France and the result was the Chrysler 180 - later to become the Chrysler 2-litre. Introduced in 1970.

In Australia (like elsewhere) the 1970's oil crisis was badly affecting sales of the most popular and profitable full-size cars. Holden responded quickly with the Torana, Ford also shoehorned a six into the Mk III Cortina. But for Chrysler there was nothing between the 1.6 litre Gallent and the big Valiant. In 1972 a Chrysler 180 was brought over for evaluation and deemed unsuitable for local conditions, but a year later, in desperation, an engineering team went to France and set about converting the 180 to their needs.

Engineers from Chrysler Australia and Simca considered modifying the body of a Chrysler 180 sedan and shortening the drive train so they could place the Australian 6-cylinder Hemi engines further back in the body but instead decided to lengthen the nose, as Chrysler Australia apparently felt this created a more aggressive and better-looking car. With a limited budget, the styling effort was restricted to the necessary nose and bonnet changes, round headlamps to comply with Australian requirements, and a revised rear panel with large tail lights (although to save cost and complication the inner sections mounted on the boot lid were non-functional). The rear body had to be beefed up with heavier panels to deal with flexing caused by the Hemi’s torque. One of the many engineers who worked on the design of the Chrysler 180, on which the Centura was based, was Tony Wheeler, who was later the founder of the Lonely Planet guides.

The cars were assembled in Australia at Tonsley Park.

Austin-Morris Mini Wood and Pickett Margrave Elite Landau (1980)1275 S4 OHV Tr

Registration No. (Cherished numer issued at Leeds)

Upon launch the Mini was a slow starter in terms of sales being the car of choice of the proverbial little old lady, Issigonis set about redressing this with a collaberation with John Cooper and the developement of the Mini Cooper, the little car was taken up by BMCs competition department and the rest is history. Soon the Mini still the car of choice by the little old lady was the car was trendy and quickly became the everyman car for first time drivers, sporty drivers, the driver on a budget and the wealthy. So much so that along with the E type Jaguar came to sybolise swingin London. Out of this came a desire to personalise the car from tumbling dice, James Bond bullet holes and for the trendy expensive conversions.

Enter the coachbuilders like Radford and Wood + Pickett.

Wood and Pckett was founded in the 1960's ,by Bill Wood and Les Picket, both former craftsmen with coachbuilders Hooper, They specialised in meeting the increasing demand for highly luxurious Minis developing their own creating thei own uprated model, known as the Margrave, their first customer being the actress, Hayley Mills in 1964. Their designs featured a distinctive leather & walnut fascia, leather and Dralon seating and front and rear nudge bars to which customers were invited to add from a long list of individually-priced options.

578 MOA is one of these examples built on a 1980 Mini Clubman 1275GT which would have cost around £ 3,700 when delivered to Wood and Pickett but after conversion came out at around £10,000 and a terrific 21st birthday present given to one very lucky young lady by her wealthy father on May 1st, 1980.Although retaining its standard engine, this W&P Mini is far from standard. W&P installed the electric sunroof, twin headlights and the 'Landau' roof option adapted effectively also of note, is the rear window, a bespoke item made by Royal Doulton and complemented by a set of Minilite alloy wheels. On the inside, the luxury continues with a walnut dashboard, Moto-Lita steering wheel, electric windows and especially the blue Dralon and magnolia leather seats, still in excellent condition.

The car was offered in near showroom condition and with a recorded mileage of 29,864 at the Classics at Brooklands Auction (6th June 2015) when photographed with an auction reserve of £ 15,000 to £ 18,000 it sold for £ 16,800
