I developed a series of costume designs for various characters from Mervyn Peake's 'Gormenghast' trilogy. This is a sample of designs for the strict traditionalist, Librarian Barquentine. I wanted this unpleasant character to have a musty, grubby look to him, as he does not care for his appearance. However, I designed a rich brocade emblazoned with repeated 'G's for Gormenghast and the Groan family, that he would wear loyally and with pride. The boxy regularity of the brocade reflects his stubborn and habitual nature. The colour is an echo of his loyalty to the royal bloodline and its rituals.

I developed a cough and a sore throat during the night, but was able to be up and out with Lucas in the morning before breakfast, exploring the beach and throwing pebbles in the sea. We all enjoyed our Premier Inn breakfasts (as there's a free choice of everything, some of us had several breakfasts!). Then it was on to Kids Kingdom, a soft play place which our grandson Frankie had chosen for his party. Our family from Bicester joined us there too. The kids (and some adults) had a great time running wild in all the different parts of the soft play, before settling down to a party lunch in one of the party rooms.
Then it was back to Gareth & Lolly's for presents, chat and tea. Frankie and our younger granddaughter share a birthday - but not the same year - so there were presents and a cake and candles for her too. I love having all my children and their families together - such a blessing!
Our journey home was uneventful - Lucas had a sleep, but woke up in time to be dropped off at his dada's for the night and tomorrow.
SIPI developed its on-campus Restoration Site where students go to identify plants, study wildlife behavior, and conduct long-term ecological studies on March 21st 2015. Volunteers learned how to build and create (1) an outdoor classroom (2) a trail (3) a Hugelkultur garden and (4) a pollination hotel. Event was successful and brought in more than 50 volunteers - students, community members, staff and faculty.
Thank you to our volunteers for their time and hard work and to our field experts who served as crew leaders. Thank you to our student organization, board of regents, and faculty and staff who donated lunch items.

Some odd scans from some colour 35mm films developed in b/w chems. Its from a mix of cheap kodak and fuji film. I need to keep the developer warmer but I still like the results.

in college, adulthood doesnt approach you gently. it kinda knocks you over and hits you all at once.
all part of my final project for my photo class. there's supposed to be an order but flickr goes by date, not by what i want. it was a personal reflection on my experiences as a college freshman and how i transformed from a child into an adult
The Iowa ProStart Invitational, held by the Iowa Restaurant Association Education Foundation, is split into two competitions focused on culinary arts and restaurant management. Prostart is a nationwide, two-year CTE program that provides hands-on leadership and skill-building opportunities for high school students. Around 40 students participated in the invitational this year in Des Moines.
Students in the culinary arts competition were judged on taste, knife skills, teamwork, safety and sanitation, menu and recipe developing, costing and more. Students in the culinary competition had to prepare a three-course meal in under 60 minutes using only two butane burners.
Students in the management competition were judged on restaurant concepts, menus, costing, layout, staffing, marketing and critical thinking. Teams competing in the management competition were encouraged to view the judges as potential investors in their restaurant.
The Iowa ProStart Invitational provides valuable, hands-on learning for students and can provide opportunities for students to explore careers. Even if students do not move into the restaurant industry as a career, the Iowa ProStart provides valuable employee and other soft skills that can be applied to any career.
Participating schools (6 competed in culinary, 4 in management):
•Alburnette High School
•Davenport Community Schools
•Hampton-Dumont High School
•Norwalk High School
•Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School
•West Lyon High School
Self developed. The film is ISO 400 but shot at ISO 800 and pushed processed at longer development time. Came out alright in my opinion, but that steel reel killed some of the shots again. I really need to get a plastic one so I don't waste frames.
