The Ponte dell'Accademia is one of only four bridges to span the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It crosses near the southern end of the canal, and is named for the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, which from 1807 to 2004 was housed in the Scuola della Carità together with the Gallerie dell'Accademia, which is still there. The bridge links the sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Marco.
A bridge on the site was first suggested as early as 1488. The provveditore Luca Trum proposed in the Council to build two bridges across the Grand Canal, one here and the other at Santa Sofia. The members of the Council, however, laughed at him, and the motion was not even put to the vote. The original steel structure, designed by Alfred Neville, opened on 20 November 1854, but was demolished and replaced by a wooden bridge designed by Eugenio Miozzi and opened in 1933, despite widespread hopes for a stone bridge.
Lovers have attempted to attach padlocks ("love locks") to the metal hand rails of the bridge, but Venetian authorities have successfully cracked down on this.[Wikipedia]

Sul lungomare di Livorno c'è il famosissimo stabilimento Scoglio della Regina (costruito nel 1846), nell'area dove, nel 1806, Maria Luisa di Borbone aveva effettuato alcune balneazioni in una piccola piscina coperta solo da dei tendaggi.

Innanzitutto devo dire che l'effetto NOTTURNO è stato realizzato/accentuato in post produzione.
Ero su una stradina del mio paese (Mappano) una grande frazione di 8500 abitanti (divisa tra i comuni di Caselle, Borgaro, Leinì, Settimo, Torino). La stradina è in piena campagnia (anche se poco distante sulla sinistra hanno costruito casa e sulla destra fabbriche), in linea quasi perfetta con la torre dell'acqua. Era una giornata stranissima. C'era un cielo piatto e nero, non c'era sole ed era buoi come se ci fosse un eclisse oppure come se stesse arrivando un MEGA acquazzone. Percorrendo la stradina ho visto che stava spuntando il sole dietro le nuvole, proprio sopra la punta della torre dell'acqua, un po' come se fosse una torcia. Ho scattato cercando di enfatizzare il cielo rosso con l'ombra della torre sullo sfondo. Con il cielo molto scuro il resto dell'immagine veniva molto sottoesposto. Ho un po' giocato in post-produzione pensando che non sarebbe stato male riuscire a vedere almeno la strada che portava alla torre.
Sapete cosa servono le torri dell'acqua.
Più o meno tutti i paese hanno una torre dell'acqua, se si è in collina magari non sono visibili ma sono interrate. La loro funzione è doppia. Da una parte servono per portare l'acqua nei piani alti. Per la legge dei vasi comunicanti, l'acqua arriverò alla stessa altezza della torre, quindi grossomodo tutte le case fino al 3 piano non hanno bisogno della pompa autonoma per fare arrivare l'acqua fino all'ultimo piano. Il secondo utilizzo è come cisterna. Infatti nelle ore di punta la torre si svuota e si riempie nelle ore di minor utilizzo (tipicamente di notte). Questo può servire sia nel caso in cui ci siano problemi di rifornimento dalla fonte, sia per mantenere la pressione nelle tubature (dipende dall'altezza della torre).

Il castello della Manta è un maniero medievale situato sulle colline di Manta, in provincia di Cuneo; La struttura del castello è frutto di aggregazioni posteriori all'impianto originario del XII secolo. L'edificio, trasformato nel tempo in dimora signorile, iniziò ad assumere la fisionomia attuale solo all'inizio del Quattrocento grazie all'opera della famiglia Saluzzo della Manta, originata da Valerano, figlio illegittimo del marchese Tommaso III di Saluzzo. Con l'estinzione di questo ramo del casato, alla fine del XVIII secolo, fu abbandonato e cadde in rovina. Dopo la donazione al FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), nel 1984, sono stati avviati i lavori di recupero e restauro che hanno riportato il complesso alla sua condizione originaria.

Il cuore di quest’area è il Lago di Santa Croce, con le sue acque verdeazzurre. Intorno l’Alpago con i suoi boschi di conifere e gli ampi pascoli; il Cansiglio con la sua incredibile foresta di faggi e abeti si estende per circa 7.000 ettari (la seconda foresta italiana).
In quota non è raro incontrare mucche al pascolo che se ne stanno pacifiche al sole, in attesa della brutta stagione dove saranno relegate nelle stalle delle malghe sparse per l'altipiano.

The heart of this area is Lake Santa Croce, with its blue-green waters. Around it is Alpago with its coniferous forests and wide pastures; Cansiglio with its incredible forest of beech and fir trees extends for about 7,000 hectares (the second largest forest in Italy).
At high altitudes it is not uncommon to come across cows grazing peacefully in the sun, waiting for the bad season when they will be relegated to the stables of the mountain huts scattered around the plateau.

Well here is Whitney the witch , looking comfortable with the animals , BUT , with Halloween only a couple of nights away she is getting ever more anxious !!
Whitney is not your regular witch because Halloween is that one dreaded night in the year when things get oh so scary and quite frightening . She would rather be indoors in the warm with a favourite film or TV show ( but not the scary ones ) with some fizz and a bowl of her favourite things to eat and pig out on .
This Whitney was put together by my wife a few years back now and the photo of Whitney was put through Serif CraftArtist with all the woodland friends added there in Dingly Dell .
