Delayed by almost 30 minutes from the Denton water stop, the Black 5 crosses the Weaver Navigation at Northwich Viaduct where a 20mph slack was imposed on traffic crossing the structure. A very rare route for steam.

Good to see so many friends from older days to chat while waiting.

The fourth coach has been altered in PS and the yellow steel frame on the RH side has been removed.

⭐️Thank you in Advance for your kind ‘Faves’ Visits and Comments they are so very much appreciated. 👍

I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their Visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’. If I do not reply to your 'Comment', it is not because I am ignoring you, it's because I have not seen the 'Comment'.

Your 'Comments' do not always appear in 'Notifications' or Flickr mail, so, I am sorry for any delay in responding. Often your 'Comment' is only spotted 'On the Page' on the day, that I see it. (seen ONLY when replying to someone HAS 'Commented' on the image, and I see a notification)

I'm sitting at work on Monday and I notice that it is getting darker outside. I figured it was going to rain, so I didn't pay it any more attention. Well it got a lot darker and I looked out the wondow and it was looking a bit nasty so I quickly went to www.wixt.com our news channel to look at the radar to see what was going on. In red right up at the top of the page was TORNADO WARNING. I know the difference between watch and warning adn all we have ever really gotten up here were watches, which means that the conditions are favorable to produce a tornado. THe warning means that something is up and you need to keep your eye to sky and pay attention to your surroundings because one is trying to form or one has already formed and is on the ground.

I quickly went over to the weather channel website and got more details. It was telling me that at 2:50 this storm would be right where I was. The time was 2:45. All I wanted to do was to get home to my house and my kids. School dismissal is at 2:50. I fly out the door at work, jump in the van, pull to the end of the driveway away from all the trees and come face to face with this lovely wall cloud. I'm telling you I almost wet my pants. Since I only live 5 miles away I figured I would get home rather quickly. Well I thought wrong. About a mile away from work I started getting pounded by hail that was the size of half dollars. It was so loud inside my van. The intensity and the loudness was just insane. The whole lasted for about 5 minutes but I swear it was the longest 5 minutes of my life. No tornado actually touched down, but it tried forming several times out of this wall cloud. This shows the time elapsed photography from our news website:

Day 245 (09.03.2012)

Sometimes you are delayed where you are because God knows there is a storm where you are going.

UP 1843 leads CP 287 north out of Bensenville, IL. It will stop just ahead at Bryn Mawr for several hours due to track work.

7th day of travel and sunset planned for Zab, near the Tatra mountains in Zakopane (southern Poland).

The delay in the trip caused the sunset to happen before arrival at the destination.

Suddenly the colors flood the sky. It's time to stop the car.

The place was not promising but I picked up the machine and tried to do something. I start to climb a nearby hill very discouraged because I did not envision the possibility of doing some registration.

Suddenly I have 2 Poles running, one with a camera in hand and the other with a tripod ...... maybe there is something special besides that mountain on the side of the road.

I hurry back to the car to pick up the tripod and run up the hill. Filters and all other stuff stayed in the car.

The Poles stayed for the time lapse in the sun.

I put myself in the center of the herd with the proper permission of the shepherd and under close watch of the dogs that made the guard.

The result is in sight.

After a delayed start due to the hoover failing, the loco was repaired and the train departed 75 minutes late. Recently overhauled and painted Hanson + Hall 50008 leads DB Cargos 67028 on 5Z50 09:19 Eastleigh Arlington Works to Westbury training/proving run passing Mortimer 09.06.2021.

It was a struggle to get up this morning at 4:30am since I only crawled into bed at 00:30 after late shift last night.

Met up with Dave Surtees down South Shields, the sunrise was at 6:34am but it remained a dull grey colour till around 7:00am then it all came together.

A very delayed 254 led to a rare opportunity for some morning light on a southbound CP train in Hamilton, Ontario with the CP 6236 leading to boot.

The kitchen floor was too badly deteriorated to dare step inside. There is a cellar and I didn't want to fall down into it. And the porch floor was too far gone to stand on as well. So I leaned way over to catch this shot. Guess I am finally learning a bit of caution.

The train is late...

Not so lucky Amtrak 7 departs Milwaukee, WI after setting out the lounge car. P42 84 leads two Chargers and heritage unit 161.

this day had a lot of bad luck and good luck taking these shots.

I was almost on location when I realised I hadn't charged my backup set of batteries for the battery grip, and the two I had in there were flashing low. once I set up not sure if I was even going to get any shots off, the batteries that were in there went flat and the "change batteries" sign came on!

I changed the set over and the backups where flashing low also :S

and when I connected my shutter remote, the batteries where flat in that too!

in the end I did some smart setup. I turned everything off, got everything focused and composed to how I want it, then turned the camera on but turned the display off and used the 2 sec timer and a 30sec exposure for the images shot. bit short for what im used to but I am happy with the results... im happy I got any images at all.

in the end I was able to get a few different shots off, all up I got what I set out for in about 10 shots of 30sec exposure for each shot :)

this is back at one of my fav spots during a delayed sunrise

Feel free to comment and leave feedback. have a good day.

A pair of J SD38's lead the oil local north through Joliet UD. This train sat before the interlocking for about 3 hours before finally being able to get on the move. It delayed our plans for the day, but it was well worth the wait. 1/8/16
