Ive been a Penguins fan since I was 8 years old, but this was my first trip to see the Pens in Pittsburgh. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Not only was the Consol staff extremely friendly and helpful, but the Pens tied it late on a Kris Letang power play goal. They ended up winning in a shootout with Sidney Crosby scoring the final goal--right in front of me.

We always seem to have a delayed autumn season in California. Somehow, the vegetation is out of sync with the rest of the world, and even within California, we have different trees operate on a different clocks. This was from January, with leaves beginning to turn yellow and red.

Megan Moroney, despite the delay because of lightning in the middle of her set, and Tyler Hubbard lit up the Bobcat stage at the York State Fair on Friday night, drawing in hordes of enthusiastic fans. The dynamic duo both put on a captivating performance that had the crowd jumping to their feet and singing along to every song. With their spirited tunes and magnetic stage presence, Moroney and Hubbard delivered an unforgettable concert experience that left everyone wanting more. By my count, Fox News is delayed the least. CNBC and MSNBC are each about 2.5 seconds behind. CNN is a full 3 seconds behind Fox News.

A few days ago now, my plane to Switzerland was delayed. This meant that I was kicking around Newark for a couple of extra hours... late night Newark airport is pretty, uh, boring to say the least. This started the epic journey that basically was me waiting around airports. My suitcase didn't make it to Geneva (it missed a connecting flight by a couple of minutes), so I ended up kicking around Geneva airport for a few hours as well before being able to catch the train to my aunt's place.

[I went for a few days for my Grandmaman's 90th birthday celebrations (woo!!) - back now. The next couple of photos are from my incredibly brief sojourn there. I don't think my body even really knows what time it is anywhere anymore.]

The view out of the window when I first got on the plane (about an hour behind schedule) and about half an hour before we actually went (5 hours behind schedule).

That plane was hot too.

It was a 10 hour flight too :(

despite the generosity of the many folks who shared their lists of favorite handwritten verse images, the new book is being delayed until fall. more here

See what I mean? More delay, more exposed water, more bulging.

Cheers.

here was my 7 hours delay in Sydney Airport...what a day

I don't really take pictures of people as I feel that is a weakness but I thought practice will help the cause.I was quite blunt about taking this picture...I hope he didnt mind!!

Candid street image taken in Port Talbot, Wales. I'd tried several times at this location to get someone standing still enough to be able to freeze them at around half a second (1/3 second in the case of this image) whilst also blurring the motion of a passing vehicle.

Action in the pits during one of the many rain delays at the 2010 NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird International Raceway. Three shot HDR with a new processing step to handle humans in the mix thanks to Captain Kimo. More photos from the Saturday qualifying session can be found here (work in progress).

I highly recommend anyone interested in trying Captain Kimo's technique for handling people in a HDR image start out with a simpler image (fewer people - like 1!). It is a very worthwhile technique but for an image like this is very time consuming. There are many imperfections as this was my first attempt but I like the results far better than past HDR images I've done that showed the motion of the people in the image. With some practice (and hopefully some day a desktop pc rather than a 15" laptop and touchpad) this technique has real promise for handling any type of motion in HDR images. In order to make the people look like they belonged I increased the saturation in the fourth image I used to get the people from in my layer masking. Yes, completing this image took lots of layers and layer masks, but I believe it was worth it.

Franco and I are moving soon. Into a beautiful and very old home with high ceilings and bright, bright light. We took a walk around our soon-to-be new neighborhood this afternoon and soaked in the novelty hiding around each corner.

Waiting for a flight outta here!

The stuff you ordered are in here somewhere.

Scenes inside the abandoned abbey in Newton, NJ. It was in bad shape, but there's hope it will someday be restored. Sad to say, there was evidence of vandalism; this beautiful old building deserves much better!

This is one great window display with some really freaky mannequin heads.......

A display sign outside the waiting area for MARC trains. The 10:25am train was cancelled, and the next train to Baltimore wasn't for another two hours, at 12:30pm. The delay was caused by a freight train on the tracks, blocking the MARC train from leaving Martin Airport. Union Station, Washington, DC.

Got FPS? ~ Put together a series of images that demonstrate your camera's continuous-shooting ability. You'll be submitting one image to the pool, but it should contain a series of individual photos. If your camera doesn't let you take photos in rapid succession, do you best to fake it. Of course, as always, the goal here is to produce something interesting...not just a bunch of boring photos appended next to each other. :)

I had hoped these would come out better, but between available time (it was a busy week with the holidays), and flash problems, this was the best I could get. There were a few frames between a few of these where the flash didn't fire so I had to narrow it down a bit.

Anyway, last Friday, Savanah tested for her purple belt. She is now quite happy about the fact that she no longer has the same belt color as I do. Forget that she is a junior purple. In her mind, she is purple and I'm still a lowly orange. No worries though. She'll eventually hit the adult level and then she'll learn what goes into getting your adult belts.
