The #40 oil burner locomotive sits on the rails waiting a water fillup at the "No Aqua" water tank at "Delay Junction" crossing at the Colorado Railroad Museum, This run was after we got our free ride in the Rico, mahogany appointed business car. I hope to post something of that swanky car. This is one of the antique narrow gauge engines at the Colorado Railroad Museum (an 1880s Baldwin Locomotive Works consolidation that was probably a std. gauge conversion) that recently spent time on the White Pass & Yukon and the Georgetown Loop. Take a close look at the drivers moved inside counterweights to 3 foot gauge. It is an oil burner and was loaded with oils early in the morning. Oil of any quality that would burn I assume. One of the volunteers reported it was from Central / South America as it had a "tropical" cab; ah, saves wear on #346. It has the Colorado Central painted on the tender but was probably never on their roster. Well, here it is with steam blasting from the the over-pressure release valve. They will need more water if it keeps blowing off steam. It would be a good idea to infect water into the boiler or quit feeding oil. The cylinder cocks are finally closed; I'd expect that everything is finally up to temp. According to the headlight and the dribble of steam behind the popoff valve. It looks like the CRRM has managed to get it operational.

Eddie and I spaced the Christmas Steamup this year but he found there was a "Black on Track" costume event upcoming. He really wanted to see this steam up. We are REALLY waiting for the RSG #20 to return for a steamup. Donate generously at the CRRM.That day will be shoulder to shoulder at the Colorado Railroad Museum; keep an eye on upcoming events on their web site. Outlanders could target Colorado trips with the expectations of hitting an event here in Golden. Someone will have already been here from your home town and/or country. These are the takes everyone is foaming at the mouth to see.

Outrageous light here for the bold early steam, IMHO. Steam is a winner in winter but the wind made it a blustery day. Are you ready for some steam? The first excursion was not quite full but is building on this blustery Saturday morning runby. The re-enactors are busy putting on a show now that we took our ride..

An almost timeless scene, taken in September 2005, of A1X Terrier locomotive 'Freshwater' waiting to depart from Haven Street, on the Isle of Wight preserved steam railway, toward Smallbrook Junction. With full head of steam, safety valves lifted, and signal dropped she has the road. Yet she is delayed as indicated by the guard consulting the driver and the fireman leaning on the buffer beam.

Exactly 12.10pm and the, delayed, 11.47 arrives at Smethwick Galton Bridge. Signalling problems at New Street was causing delay and confusion for the P.A and dot matrix signs.

Urbexed an abandoned sign makers today, I just couldn't help myself...

View for 4 hours on the ride home while we were delayed. I took this shot a couple times due to boredom. I liked the one with the BA plane in it because it reminded me of flying experiences that are the opposite of those experienced while flying United.

We had hardly stopped at Darjeeling when the waiting train steamed off - presumably delayed while we were blocking the line. One woman jumped on and off several times as the train accelerated - indecision or what?

GB Railfreight Class 92, 92014 leads sister locomotive 92018 (Dead In Train) through Hartford with the Caledonian Sleeper Up Highlander (1M16). This was a pre-planned move to get the latter "Dyson" south for maintenance at Wembley.

The service was running around 45 minutes late due to the driving being delayed on his inbound working (1S26) to Preston after a points failure at Wembley the previous evening.

I have no idea why, but this train only did about 15 or 20 MPH once out of Neenah. That suited me as I was slower getting rolling than I wanted to. A449 just outside of Wrightstown.

CPKC 41B just got the highball to depart Nahant Yard in Davenport, Iowa, ahead of a long 400 mile run to St. Paul. Despite the crew asking for as much priority as they could, we are already 30 mins behind schedule as they were instructed to wait and follow a NB ethanol drag. That didn't last long however, as on board crewmembers made calls to higher ups to have the steam special leapfrog the train at the first siding out of town. Unfortunately, more traffic up the line would continue to plague the steam crew and put them 3.5 hours behind schedule by the end of the day.

Well hello Flickr. I've been gone for a long time. Hope someone remembers me.

My wife and I turned 50 over the spring and this shot is from her birthday trip up to Ouray Colorado.

I still can't believe this was May 28th. We woke to drive home that morning to a few inches of fresh snow. I guessed by the time we got up to Dallas Divide things would be looking very good.

...for 2 hours 30 mins. Boarded on time, and due to the freezing temperatures (-18 celsius) there were various malfunctions with the front of the cabin, and the wings needed de-icing...twice. Never mind, we got away in the end!
