Sometimes referred to as The Hidden Galaxy because of the dust and stars in front of it..This image has a combined exposure time of 10 hours with my STL 4020 color camera and 10 inch SCT
My first steps into astro photography. It is a slow process, since the weather is almost always cloudy. Also, I had to delete many pictures.
This is taken with my little smart telescope Dwarf 3, which is quite easy to use.

Sculpture Galaxy (NGC253). My first attempt at a galaxy and the furthest object I have photographed. The sculpture galaxy is estimated to be 11.4 million light years from earth. It's undergoing an intense period of star formation. The Galaxy is located at the center of the Sculptor Group, one of the nearest groups of galaxies to the Milky Way.

The Coma Galaxy Cluster, in the northern constellation of Coma Berenices, the hair of Queen Berenice, is one of the closest very rich collections of galaxies in the nearby Universe. The cluster, also known as Abell 1656, is about 320 million light-years from Earth and contains more than 1000 members. The brightest galaxies, including NGC 4921 shown here, were discovered back in the late 18th century by William Herschel.
The galaxies in rich clusters undergo many interactions and mergers that tend to gradually turn gas-rich spirals into elliptical systems without much active star formation. As a result there are far more ellipticals and fewer spirals in the Coma Cluster than are found in quieter corners of the Universe.

Here's NGC 2175 taken during the run of clear but cold nights earlier in March. I used the Esprit 120 but the cold caused some pinched optics so please excuse the odd looking stars, some of which are hexagonal, others have 6 spikes! I've tried to hide the bad stars as best I could. Unfortunately below freezing I get this issue with the Esprit, as it seems many others do too. Next time I'm going to triple up on dew heaters to try and warm the lens housing.
Image taken with the ASI1600GT in SHO (8hrs 34mins) and with RGB stars (3hrs). Processed in Siril, GIMP and Topaz.

I started this image in the Cairngorms in the North of Scotland in March 2010 and subesquently added more data to it to reduce noise and increase detail in the nebulous areas of the sisters. Tracking was done using an Astrotrac and exposures were taken upto 7 minutes in length at ISO 800. I used a Canon 20d and a Canon 200mm L lens at f2.8. Images were stacked in DSS and processed in Photoshop to increase mid tones and to even out the background and to increase saturation.
I still can't decide how best to orientate the image!
I'm really pleased with how the different colours have come out in the nebulous areas. The first time each year when I see the seven sisters, it always captivates me and reminds me why I love to look into the night sky. Under clear dark skies, they are truly stunning.
Probably my favourite part of the sky...

The Wild Duck Cluster (also known as Messier 11, or NGC 6705) is an open cluster in the constellationScutum. It is one of the richest and most compact of the known open clusters, containing about 2900 stars. Its age has been estimated to about 220 million years. Its name derives from the brighter stars forming a triangle which could represent a flying flock of ducks.
