Frozen veggie samoosas I decided to try today since my mother bought herself a deep fryer, they were spicy and yummy, looking forward to making some from scratch though very soon :)
Oliebollen are Dutch pastries similar to doughnuts. These deep-fried treats are typically filled with raisins and dusted with powdered sugar .
I was feeling a bit under the weather, so didn't partake of any deep fried items, but it was fun to meet all the Flickrinos who showed up (many of whom I had not met previously)

I've always been partial to cake doughnuts because all my favourite flavours are only available in cake doughnut at my local chains (hello toasted coconut!). These buttermilk doughnut holes are wonderful examples of this genre. They are tender and slightly tangy from the use of buttermilk and sour cream. I also love the gentle spicing with cinnamon and nutmeg.

De Lijn PCC 7127 on line 11 at the Dageraadplaats. Just visible to the left is a stall selling Smoutebollen. These are traditional Flemish dumplings made from flour, eggs, yeast, some salt, milk, deepfried and served with powdered sugar. Recommended if you are in the neighbourhood or see them sold somewhere else.
This week we revisited Shizen Japanese Restaurant on Government St. to see if its food was as good as we remembered it. It is.
For the first time, I made spring roll filling homemade instead of buying frozen spring rolls. They turned out great. Most delicious spring rolls I've ever had! :D

It is fairly obvious that it is a thermometer but not that it is a candy or confectionery thermometer. It measures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and can also be used to help cook deep-fried foods.
