Deck the halls.
I've made a start in the hall
Green, red and white. Now to add the florescent pink light.
Started. I suppose I have about 10% done. Very hot, 100 degrees, so I am going to take it in stages. I am very glad it is a small deck. The old wood is taking the stain better than the new wood. It is going to look nice when It is finished (which may take all summer - and a lot more stain than I thought it would.
View from other side. This picture also shows the fence screem made fron trellis and reed covering the neighbours old garage. This had to be planned and fixed in place before the deckboards were to go down.
Lots of unique features: hidden fasteners, angled decking, a double border, locally-built custom rails, and Trex's Elevations steel framing.
Vinyl deck with Wolf PVC Decking amberwood flooring and Longevity white PVC railing with black balusters.
Used to be part of a wooden supposed to be an arbor turned into a kids outdoor swing set with deck and fireman's pole. Over the years the aging wood has always fascinated me. We keep it safe, for I cannot bear to dismantle it.
Without the deck, this kind of reminds me of those invisible doors in Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World.
That's my daughter, Susie, taking in the deck view that overlooks New Orlean's Square, Critter Country, Frontierland and Adventureland.
Two days out of Southampton, the sea and weather are improving after a stormy first few days. Our first walk around Arcadia's open deck. The view of the wake at the stern of a ship is always mesmerising.

Ahhhhhhh. I have FINALLY moved into my new apartment in Oregon! I LOVE it. I can't believe I get to rent something so nice! :) My favorite aspect right now is our little deck/porch! We've gotten a few plants and I love to sit out there (just need some chairs now!) Anyway, this was first thing this morning with a yummy cup of tea, enjoying the cool "summer" air. BAM!

Just learnt:
Crenelations: the top of a wall or tower that has lower sections (crenels) for the purpose of giving a castle defender a position to fight or fire through. This protective stonework is the classic "saw tooth" outline of the top of a castle wall.
Merlons: The upward portion of a crenelation, the part of the top wall located between the embrasures or crenels.
