This is a lovely climbing rose I started from a cutting many years ago. It is now in many places in the garden and the neighbourhood. It is quite easy to propagate and it is very prolific. Only blooms once in June for about 3-4 weeks. It also has a very nice fragrance.

I was surprised to see Camino being advertised via the Deck - I wonder if they get special rates?

Pilots and crew chiefs assigned to 225 “KnightHawk” Company 25th Infantry Division, conduct day and night-time deck landing qualifications. To maintain proficiency, the crews must complete a total of 10 landings, five day and five night-vision landings on a ship deck every month. The qualifications are necessary to ensure perishable skills is not lost and aviation crewmembers are able to support maritime missions. (U.S. Army photo by MSG Lekendrick Stallworth)

I'm not at all happy about the focus on this shot, but it is the only one I have from this angle.

Doc’s Soda Fountain and Deck's Pharmacy Museum, Girard Illinois, September 2016.

Deck's Drug store opened in 1884 and was run by the Deck family for three generations.

The soda fountain was added in 1929, so for a short period Route 66 travelers would have been able to stop here for some refreshment. Route 66 was realigned in 1930 and then bypassed Girard.

The pharmacy closed on 2001 when Bob and Bill Deck both retired. In 2007 the Ernst family reopened it as a restaurant (Doc's Soda Fountain) and the Deck family maintains a small pharmacy museum there as well.

There were two other privacy screens on the deck rail that Peter and I removed because the deck rail was starting to fall down. We wanted to get some of the weight off the rail so that it wouldn't just fall off.
