Pilots and crew chiefs assigned to 225 “KnightHawk” Company 25th Infantry Division, conduct day and night-time deck landing qualifications. To maintain proficiency, the crews must complete a total of 10 landings, five day and five night-vision landings on a ship deck every month. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to Fort Saint Elmo. It was built in the 1500's by the Knights Of Malta. The War Museum is there, along with the original George Cross that was awarded to Malta by King George VI of England.
The World Monuments Fund placed the fort on its 2008 Watch List of the 100 Most Endangered Sites in the world because of its significant deterioration due to factors such as lack of maintenance and security, natural aging, and exposure to the elements.
Fort Saint Elmo was used as a film location for the Turkish jail in Midnight Express.

The through deck fitting had failed a while ago and I opened the area up to get the wet plywood out.
