•A window tells me I don't have permission to save notepad to desktop but it saves anyway.
•I like pin to taskbar.
•When I unplug and go outside my home network disappears. I was able to connect to the net. The network stayed when I came back in and unplugged.
•I don't notice a mail. Windows mail or outlook express.
•I'll install 2003 soon.
•I'm glad I can drag files to a folder and they Move like xp used to. I want a move feature.

•Adobe flash player 9 debugger comes up in mozilla even though I have installed flash PLAYER 10

•69 processes, cpu usage %68, physical memory %51 5 apps open including mozilla with 3 tabs open to my webpage plus two fox web pages which are heavy with video and pics. Firefox at 224,00kpss

•Odd behavior tonight. I loaded some movie files from my Sony. Adobe premiere pro didn’t see them so I loaded adobe elements 2.0. It didn’t see them. I tried to rename the ext to .mpg they wouldn’t rename. I tried to use a bulk rename utility but it didn’t see the files… Twighlite zone. I see the files and the media player plays them. I want to cut them but do not understand.

•OK it has to be a windows 7 thing with mo 2003 because I received both of these at the same time watching THE DESKTOP AND THE LAPTOP (LAPTOP HAS WINDOWS 7) . THE DESKTOP, xp pro, WAS FINE. THE LAPTOP RECEIVED GARBAGE. But I am wondering why Bella can send me the same thing and it was OK on Laptop when yours wasn't. So it is not you.

•trying to update a techsmith camtasia I get switch to box. Finding the browser didin't help.
•When I try to use camtasia to record a power point presentation I can’t check the record from what speaker hears box.
•Ie won’t stay op[en. It opens then closes.

•An infrared driver update came my way via windows beata notification. However the page disappeared and I can’t get it back. It lead me to a blank web page. I managed to save a pdf of the page with hot links but the links go nowhere. There was no explanatioin as to what the driver fixes.

It’s a sugar coated version of XP that conflicts with my video editing programs. Microsoft has made it harder to move files with no “move” feature. They have taken away the windows picture viewer and gif images don’t work without extra software.
The switch to box wouldn't let me switch mto moizilla on a download for an upgrade to snagit.

Installing windows 7 signature edition on 32 bit and 64 bit. I had to wipe the 32 bit because 7 wouldn’t recognize windows 7 RC. Install of fresh 7 took About 40 minutes. From Vista 64 bit 7 copied and saved programs and data of @ 400gb on my lt and @ 80 programs in @ five hours! That was nice!

A wipe did not fix the ati glitch on a reinstall.
Windows 7 changed back to windows 7 basic color scheme and the tuner came back on. I had just plugged the tuner into Laptop 2 64bit vista and ati 650 worked. Then all of a sudden the tuner started working again on my 7 lt. Weird coincidence.

Uninistalling Roxio and using a windows basic or Aero theme in Display settings then re-installing the 650 program over the existing install made the 650 work for me again. I dare not mess with Windows TV tuner!
For those with simple need that don’t need a TV tuner I sugest Windows 7 Ultimate. For those willing to troubleshoot your ATI tuner I also suggest Windows 7 Ultimate!

I had to reverrify my activation key on the 32 bit.
I can only network 2 machines that are both on 7.

A clean uninstall of the 650 then re-install AFTER re-installing roxio fixed it so far.It’s working with roxio now. Roxio’s TV tuner and the ati tuner are working. If you put in ati first before Roxio then Roxio won’t let you install ati.
Hp 7350 photo printer won’t work with hp laptop 64bit and 7 desktop 32bit. No compatible drivers I have found so far have helped.
I can’t figure out how to sort icons in Quick launch with 7.
stumbled over this while playing with my glitching setup... pretty neat they left this in the DSi menu binary!

Tools
This image shows tools that I find to be useful enough to use on a regular occasion.
I've included this image in hopes that it will help others who are interested in learning understand
what devices allow us to interact with, study and manipulate circuits and their associated logic / communication protocols.
Having the right tools to compliment the material you are studying and resources that you are learning from is critical. I'm certain there are plenty of brilliant individuals who can master these concepts just by reading about them, but I have found that a balance between hands on work and study is the secret to keeping moving forward in one's self education.
Some of these tools are incredibly simple & can be crafted at no cost. These often prove to be powerful tricks and I love finding out about them. So if anyone has a suggestion / tip / trick for their fellow engineers, please share it in the comments of this photo. One trick that I have not yet tried (and is not pictured) is the use of hypedermic syringes for tapping traces/pins. It has apparently been known by elmers & grey beards everywhere since the dawn of time, but I had just recently learned of it thanks to one of Travis Goodspeed's talks at blackhat/defcon.

MAX 50 - 50MHz Frequency Counter from Global Specialties Corporation
LP-2 Logic Probe
GirlTech IM-ME - Hacked. Firmware: Spectrum Analyzer. - Includes ChipCon CC1110. Reprogrammed using GoodFET via easily accessible JTAG pads.
Ikalogic Scanalogic-2 pro - Logic Analyzer and Digital Signal Generator. Decode & Analyze SPI, I2C, UART, 1-Wire, Can & more. Actively developed,. great community forum, afforadble and available at a bargain in kit form.
Bus Pirate - I consider this to be the absolute most essential device out of this group of tools. I would recommend obtaining a Bus Pirate prior to these other tools. I would be happy if I had only an oscilloscope, multimeter & bus pirate on my bench.
GoodFET - This ornery little bugger is a force to be reckoned with. I'm still very much a beginner when it comes to unlocking the GoodFET's potential. The PCB's can be obtained for very cheap & sometimes for free but that is between you & travis,. I obtained my GoodFET from Kenneth Finnegan, who took care of the SMD work for me (I had not the tips nor the skill for surface mount work at that point in time). Kenneth is a great guy and has contributed a lot of potent material. Observe his blog at blog.thelifeofkenneth.com/
USB to RS232 -Handy to have around for accessing those naughty debug/programming ports left on consumer devices. I used this three dollar adapter to terminal into a late 90's 'voip' device from singapore. this gave me peek & poke powers accessing the eeprom & flash.
USB to TTL UART adapter - wonderful device w/ plenty of uses. Communicate with Tran-to-Tran Level universal asynchronous RX/TXer's with a serial terminal . I haven't taken advantage of this nearly enough. Its current purpose is interfacing w/ TI TIR1000 chip for a fun little IRdA Sniff/Jam/Inject device i'm slowly developing.
Simple One Pulse Logic Pulser - This is a simple but handy trick I learned when digging through old PDFs & patents while reseraching Glomper Clips (Who still remembers / has ever heard of these?) Basically to make this simple logic pulser you just need a single 0.1uF capacitor and whichever end utensils you prefer (Prods/probes/clips/male/female). You then find the target pin on the IC in circuit that you wish to pulse. While the circuit is powered up, connect one end of your pulser to ground and touch the other end to the positive voltage to charge the capacitor. Then you simply touch the prod to the input of the gate you wish to test, the capacitor will discharge - creating a positive pulse. Monitor the output pin with you logic probe.
Simple Logic Probe - Took a test screwdriver from cheap electrical test set purchased from thrift store and modified it into logic state probe. This is simple, classic and well documented although people more often use writing Pens , i've seen syringes used as well. I removed the glass fuse, spring & test probe connector from the screwdriver and rigged up a bi-color (Green/Red) LED w/ limiting resistor in series. Probe is used to show negative = green , positive = red states on points tested. "real" or more intelligent probes will take an input pulse and stretch it out so that its illumination is not an actual indication of the current bus state. (thats an oversimplification). But a simple LED test probe will pulse w/ the bus, although it can be hard to see/catch at times.
Last but not least, another favorite tool: The Crystal Earpiece !
The crystal earpiece - I first heard of it being used by Jeri Ellsworth as she described testing calculators with one as a child , which she then would hack by overclocking. The crystal earpiece used as test equipment is also documented in the book "How to Use Oscilloscopes and Other Test Equipment" by R.A. Penfold. One basically probes a circuit and observes Chirps as indicators. I will transcribe some information from the book and make a better post regarding this method in the future.

It’s a sugar coated version of XP that conflicts with my video editing programs. Microsoft has made it harder to move files with no “move” feature. They have taken away the windows picture viewer and gif images don’t work without extra software.
The switch to box wouldn't let me switch mto moizilla on a download for an upgrade to snagit.

7 can feel me closing it down. it crashed as i copy program files so I can downgrade to vista.

Installing windows 7 signature edition on 32 bit and 64 bit. I had to wipe the 32 bit because 7 wouldn’t recognize windows 7 RC. Install of fresh 7 took About 40 minutes. From Vista 64 bit 7 copied and saved programs and data of @ 400gb on my lt and @ 80 programs in @ five hours! That was nice!

A wipe did not fix the ati glitch on a reinstall.
Windows 7 changed back to windows 7 basic color scheme and the tuner came back on. I had just plugged the tuner into Laptop 2 64bit vista and ati 650 worked. Then all of a sudden the tuner started working again on my 7 lt. Weird coincidence.

Uninistalling Roxio and using a windows basic or Aero theme in Display settings then re-installing the 650 program over the existing install made the 650 work for me again. I dare not mess with Windows TV tuner!
For those with simple need that don’t need a TV tuner I sugest Windows 7 Ultimate. For those willing to troubleshoot your ATI tuner I also suggest Windows 7 Ultimate!

I had to reverrify my activation key on the 32 bit.
I can only network 2 machines that are both on 7.

A clean uninstall of the 650 then re-install AFTER re-installing roxio fixed it so far.It’s working with roxio now. Roxio’s TV tuner and the ati tuner are working. If you put in ati first before Roxio then Roxio won’t let you install ati.
Hp 7350 photo printer won’t work with hp laptop 64bit and 7 desktop 32bit. No compatible drivers I have found so far have helped.
I can’t figure out how to sort icons in Quick launch with 7.

•When I unplug and go outside my home network disappears. I was able to connect to the net. The network stayed when I came back in and unplugged.

•I'm glad I can drag files to a folder and they Move like xp used to. I want a move feature.
•Could not load easy media transfer on xp pro machine
•Adobe flash player 9 debugger comes up in mozilla even though I have installed flash PLAYER 10
•I had problems installing an ati 650 made for windows 7 beta software. Uninstall was just as bad.
•I like the video preview box!
•I can't get the ati TV 650 wonder to load from the software disc or from the ati site using a windows 7 friendly download.

•69 processes, cpu usage %68, physical memory %51 5 apps open including mozilla with 3 tabs open to my webpage plus two fox web pages which are heavy with video and pics. Firefox at 224,00kpss
•Memory is at 1.93 gb

I want to cut them but do not understand.

A clean uninstall of the 650 then re-install AFTER re-installing roxio fixed it so far.It’s working with roxio now. Roxio’s TV tuner and the ati tuner are working. If you put in ati first before Roxio then Roxio won’t let you install ati.
Hp 7350 photo printer won’t work with hp laptop 64bit and 7 desktop 32bit. No compatible drivers I have found so far have helped.
I can’t figure out how to sort icons in Quick launch with 7.

•A window tells me I don't have permission to save notepad to desktop but it saves anyway.
•I like pin to taskbar.
•When I unplug and go outside my home network disappears. I was able to connect to the net. The network stayed when I came back in and unplugged.
•I don't notice a mail. Windows mail or outlook express.
•I'll install 2003 soon.
•I'm glad I can drag files to a folder and they Move like xp used to. I want a move feature.
•Could not load easy media transfer on xp pro machine
•Adobe flash player 9 debugger comes up in mozilla even though I have installed flash PLAYER 10
•I had problems installing an ati 650 made for windows 7 beta software. Uninstall was just as bad.
•I like the video preview box!
•I can't get the ati TV 650 wonder to load from the software disc or from the ati site using a windows 7 friendly download.
•It looks like you didn’t get the message about playing gifs.

•69 processes, cpu usage %68, physical memory %51 5 apps open including mozilla with 3 tabs open to my webpage plus two fox web pages which are heavy with video and pics. Firefox at 224,00kpss
•Memory is at 1.93 gb

THE LAPTOP RECEIVED GARBAGE. But I am wondering why Bella can send me the same thing and it was OK on Laptop when yours wasn't. So it is not you.

It’s a sugar coated version of XP that conflicts with my video editing programs. Microsoft has made it harder to move files with no “move” feature. They have taken away the windows picture viewer and gif images don’t work without extra software.
The switch to box wouldn't let me switch mto moizilla on a download for an upgrade to snagit.

Installing windows 7 signature edition on 32 bit and 64 bit. I had to wipe the 32 bit because 7 wouldn’t recognize windows 7 RC. Install of fresh 7 took About 40 minutes. From Vista 64 bit 7 copied and saved programs and data of @ 400gb on my lt and @ 80 programs in @ five hours! That was nice!

A wipe did not fix the ati glitch on a reinstall.
Windows 7 changed back to windows 7 basic color scheme and the tuner came back on. I had just plugged the tuner into Laptop 2 64bit vista and ati 650 worked. Then all of a sudden the tuner started working again on my 7 lt. Weird coincidence.

Uninistalling Roxio and using a windows basic or Aero theme in Display settings then re-installing the 650 program over the existing install made the 650 work for me again. I dare not mess with Windows TV tuner!
For those with simple need that don’t need a TV tuner I sugest Windows 7 Ultimate. For those willing to troubleshoot your ATI tuner I also suggest Windows 7 Ultimate!

Like punk, it's not dead, and like a zombie, it should. It fell on the floor of a supermarket next to dog food. The repair shop didn't want to spend time with a crappy camera like this, so I've repaired it myself as I could, which means poorly. Lastly, I thought it had become really definitely unusable. I was frustrated of not being able to post as much squareFormat photos as I wanted, so I decided to exhume it and found a new workaround. When the shutter doesn't want to work, I take the thing with "made in china" written on it off and release the blocked Thingy and then it works again. :)
I know I should just throw it away but I really like this camera.

Me and Will the hardware engineer won a bottle of champagne for finding a bug in the Intel 8086 processor. When a NMI coencided with a clock sync, the processor locked up.
Believe it or not....we had no idea we had a pond in our backyard, until 3 weeks after we moved in. Yes...there is a story to our second home.
My current DSi debugging setup:

The plexiglass panel has a hole in the bottom, to allow access to the underside of the DSi mainboard. The plexiglass is reinforced with some steel strips.
Test points attached: Power, power button, wifi SPI, MMC clock
SIM and Debug connector.
Half of the locations adjacent to the SIM card aren't populated. This could be missing static protection, or, because these parts are under the "SIM card window" (can be accessed without removing case) may be jumper locations.
The 6-pin connector seems to be a USB connector. Booting from USB requires a specific configuration pin to be set correctly - that could be one of the unidentified pins.
Debugging the I2C code with the logic analyzer. It can show me the exact point in the code when one of the lines changes state. Not bad for a machine that's as old as me and originally sold for the price of a car!

Getting I2C access and framebuffer access took two weeks of work during holidays (including many unsuccessful attempts at JTAG)...
The Xtensa boot only took a week to get it to write to the framebuffer from the Xtensa code... It took much longer to get the newlib C library and RTOS (FreeRTOS) running on the Xtensa itself, register windows making CPU state save/restore a pain...
